The below Executive room (no meaningful upgrade was given) is severely in need of refurbishment as well as basic maintenance, with flickering lightbulbs and the tap could be almost pulled off. The sink level is higher than normal. The hallway is so narrow that you could barely push a normal-sized checked luggage through if you had one, and the "table" alcove is so small it barely fits a laptop. Could not get wifi to sign in with name and room number. The code is Liverpool30.

The evening food in the lounge (on the ground floor) was better than expected - barbecue wings and large vegetable balls (some real vegetables not just mush) as well as extensive salads and cheese + ham. Quality was average, but everyone gobbled it up and dishes were replenished 2 or 3 times. Drinks were mostly a red wine, Beefeater, Bacardi and a few others. 2 attendants who were attentive. During the evening, front desk staff kept coming in and taking bottles of water and coke from the fridge...

Regarding public transport, the hotel is right next to Liverpool ONE bus station which has direct services to the airport. But is awkward to get to / from Lime Street station as it's either a 17.5 minute walk, or Merseyrail train plus 5 minute walk (generally not included in long-distance tickets and need to buy additional paper ticket) or 5 minute bus plus a bit of a walk (not obvious which buses are appropriate and not easy to know where the bus stops are).

With Amex offer I only paid 69 so can't complain too much, but certainly wouldn't pay the typical rates of 150+

Now starting to look like a refurb is necessary, think it opened around Capital of Culture 2008, so 15 years worth of wear and tear

I think there is a circular bus route (101?) that drops near Lime Street

Stay frequently in Liverpool, but normally opt for the Doubletree now, used to stay here a lot, but not for some time now.
I remember the rooms were always fairly decent, but it was starting to look like a refurb was needed.
The lounge was never that great and attracted the “pre loading” crowd.
Location is very central and they used the undergrad Q Park car park, for which a discount was offered.
When the doubletree opened, without a lounge, they adopted a policy of free drink’s vouchers for HH members, it meant you could chose a decent drink at the regular bar.
I do remember the breakfast here being quite good, but often you ended up queuing for a long time to get in, which was irritating.
You’re into Christmas party season and both properties are often full on Fridays / Saturdays.
No recent experience, but interested in what it’s like now.

I wouldn't stay in the Liverpool Hampton again unless it was actually 24. The Corby one is a lot better

Yeah I was joking but seriously I found the Liverpool one uninspiring too.

Have stayed at the Liverpool Hilton a few times this year. Usually get upgraded but even the Exec rooms are in need of refurbishment. Having said that, wife and I both like the hotel for its location so close to the Albert Dock and room rates are often quite reasonable. Lounge is opposite reception area and being quite small, usually fills up quickly before the evening drinks and food start. When it's full, have seen guests taking food and drinks out to the bar/lounge area and it doesn't seem to bother the Exec lounge staff. No sparkling wine but spirits, wine and beers are all self serve and the food is replenished throughout the evening. Parking at the front of the hotel is very limited and if you're lucky, you may be able to grab a parking space. Diamonds get a 50% reduction on the 25 parking charge per night. Otherwise, parking is available in the adjacent underground car park of Liverpool One. One thing I never realised is that there are apartments above the hotel. Always thought the building was solely the Hilton hotel until I saw some balconies on the upper floors of the building!

So parking outside in the very limited number of spaces, is 12.50 for Diamonds?
Im guessing this is cheaper than the discounted rate at the Q Park.

As for the apartments on top, I was unlucky enough to be in a room on a high floor at the Liverpool one end of the hotel, one New Years Eve. You could hear most of the conversation in the apartment above.
It seemed that the occupant was having a massive row with whoever else was in there with him. Culminating in slamming of doors and further heated conversations.
Just what I needed to be woken up with on New Years Day morning!

I had a similar situation a few years back ,was upgraded to a huge suite , top floor at the back and could clearly hear the folk upstairs in the apartment.
Whilst I appreciated this upgrade I would have loved the one next to the presidential suite overlooking the dock, however I got chatting to the chap who was in that suite at breakfast and he told me he got zero sleep as Conner Mcgegger ( the cage fighter ) was in the presidential and it was noisy all night with folk coming and going Im glad I didnt in the end.
