Given the location of the Kimpton versus the IC, I would favor the IC for being a closer walk to the French Quarter and the street cars to the Garden District. The Kimpton is closer to the Warehouse District.
They're only 3 blocks apart. Even though both are basically on Poydras St, because of the way the streets bend with the river, the Kimpton is actually closer to the French Quarter. But it depends where in the quarter - Kimpton is closer to the riverfront, Jackson Square, and the Aquarium. IC is closer to Bourbon St.

Any recent trip reports?

Considering a stay this weekend the night before our cruise--either this or one of the Hyatts. I'm Diamond Ambassador. TIA.

Any recent reviews? Not too impressed with what I've read so far. I'm Diamond Ambassador.

There is no value to this property. The rooms are in terrible condition and the grounds/common areas are stuck in 2009.

IHG has much better in New Orleans, all within walking distance of the IC here.

For Diamond, you get better Breakfast at the Indigo or the Kimpton Fontenot.

Ive been here twice (Feb 2023 and August 2024). Ive split my stays between IC NO, Kimpton Fontenot, the Indigo and the VoCo.

Thanks for the warning! We dodged that one ... phew!

Although an older hotel, nothing fancy, HI French Quarter Chateau LeMoyne
https://www.hi-chateau.com
https://www.ihg.com/holidayinn/hotel...cl/hoteldetail
is actually good located for the action of the French Quarter, yet still on a quieter side street.
A video from Priscilla:
Location is just 2 blocks north east away from the Ritz Carlton and Canal street.
Why am i so fond of it....

As an intuitive expert of the field of the great beyond: "summoning is easy, any idiot can do it, getting rid of it is something only profesionals can do".
So the HI might be nowadays a safer choice if one wants to avoid the heavy duty nastier spooks

I read this and remember my days as a Royal Ambassador many years ago.Even then the property seemed dated lol
Enjoyed being upgraded to massive vip suites. The Gm was an incredible guy (went to manage another IHG property in Europe) and rates were quite fair
They always took care of breakfast oddly I don't remember a lounge.Memory going?
Perhaps they closed the lounge too during slow periods back then
I always found the property comfortable.
The number one reason I walked away from IHG was destination and other nuisance fees they tack on to award
and revenue nights. The Fools should have waived it for elites and then there would be a solid reason to do 60 plus nights a year or more
Penny wise pound foolish as they say.
My new mission reduce quantity of nights and buy up to better hotels for better experiences.
Having multiple lifetime status tiers takes all the pressure off of never having to earn status
Glad I did it in the good old days!

Using the resurrection tome on this thread to ask a burning question out of desire.

To relive those courting days in New Orlans:
S/O: "hey gorgeous, what are you doing here all by yourself?"
Me: "are you chatting me up ?"

We are contemplating end FEB 2026
- IC New Orlans for a 2 N
- at IC New Orlans will opt for the 1 bedroom suite balcony
- dinner at https://www.commanderspalace.com

Where the fan dance or the roaring peacock took place in courting rituals :
Me: "I'm twice divorced and have 2 kids, i do hope you like some extra baggage?"
S/O: "does divorced once and battling custody for 1 kid count as glamour to you?"
And thus the composite House of Hades was born, there is hope for you all that romance isn't dead yet

As i have no patreon or other monetizing channels, you could further the touch of romance if you have any valuable insights to share about the hotel or of the commanders palace restaurant. I have no idea what to expect as we are 25+ years later but i am determined to enjoy myself

Bumping this tread with an important discovery:
Spoiler

But of more importance is that there is a 3D interface map website of the room layout, event space and more.
https://visitingmedia.com/tt8/?ttid=...b11t0=1&ha17=1

In order or room size, it shows us:

Presidential suite version 1

Presidential suite version 2

Presidential suite version 3

1bedroom suite balcony (business suite)

1 bedroom suite (hospitality suite)

Hope this gives you an idea what to expect in layout.
And yes, in the name of love i already booked the 1 bedroom suite balcony.
- the Kimpton's Fontenot suite was 2x the price
- i like to be tantalized with a new hotel
- no possibility to book the presidential suite for my stay dates
- need EQP for RA qualification
* yes the elephant in the room is the very retro carpeting....
- reminds me of those days of the 60s X LSD trip to psychadelic land -

Staying here for a couple days this week splitting my stay from a nearby Hyatt property to give this IC another shot.
I typically stay at the Kimpton when in New Orelans, but I need the IC EQP. In 2023, I was very disappointed at this hotel's service and appearance and not expecting much here, albeit 3 years later.

Looking much forward to your contributions about your insitu experiences.
We'll be there after next week but i might see everything through rose coloured glasses.
You are more the voice of reason, i always appreciate your insights on IC Barclay NYC.
It's a short stay this time in New Orlans, previous experience was at the RC & JW Marriott but i'm quite curious how things will be.
As long as it is not the IC Willard Washington's signature the nonstop butttrumpet event, it should be fine
Besides i do love to be tantalized with visiting a new hotel.....

The direct email to this hotel for prestay communications :
Spoiler

Hotel offers no own transport service but the concierge reached out to me to inform them about their partner,
Audubon Coach - https://www.auduboncoach.com

Previous stays at the RC netted me the transport services of their provider:
https://limolivery.com

May i ask a favour ?
Time permitting, could you ask if the hotel's restaurant :
https://trenasse.com
allows for roomcharge and if earns EQP?
I'll be arriving late on SouthWest and S/O has a full day doing business so it'll help to have a bite closest by the comfort of the lift back to the room

If not i might try out the sushiplace in the adjenct building : Tsunami Sushi : https://neworleans.servingsushi.com
Or the dessert caf across the street: Drip Affogato : https://www.dripaffogato.com
I'm not that familiar with south of Canal Street so just going for arm's length eath convenience.

Thanks in anticipation
Have a great Mardi Grass festivities day !

From Texas, i'm doing a dance of exhaltation in your honour, thank you
No Mardi Grass dance for me because in the Southern Netherlands that means comatose drinking and winding in bed with someone else !

First impressions.

Hotel seems to have its own platforms for viewing the Mardi Grass parades and festivities.
Spoiler

https://www.mardigrasneworleans.com/parades/
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mardi_Gras_in_New_Orleans

........
S/O: "when you told me that we were reliving our New Orlans courting days i had expected you'd do a bit more effort, this hotel is more than acceptable but is dark, dated and desperate needing a refurb. It is clear that the owners want to invest 0". An image says it all.
Spoiler

Neither are perpendicular.

By internal family whatsapp with more photos that i will soon post here in the review:
H1jr: "sure it ain't the Overlook hotel ?"
H2jr: "it will take a lot and even more effort to make sure romance isn't dead"

Actually it's all fine, the hotel did decorate our room a bit in a romance theme and there was an enticing welcome amenity. Staff is polite and very laid back and not pretentious at all. But this is defenitely one of those golden very oldies Intercontinentals. For folks who've been around longer, think the ex-Intercontinental Yorkville Toronto. I'll keep y'all updated but it is a blast from the past.

The F&B posted as EQP. I forgot to come back here and report.

Also, yes, this property is begging for a refresh.
