Nice. If I had been on this, I would be shooting with a Panasonic dmc-lx3 camera; which was infrequently glimpsed back in 2009, and must be nearly out of public comprehension in 2024.
I remark it seems we have only one photograph of cherry blossoms; which were undoubtedtly one of the reasons why airfares to Japan were inhospitable. May we please have more photographs of them?

Was there any discussion about where it will be next year?

Bumping, curious about discussion for 2025 location. We did hit Nagoya in July (hot!) for Sumo, which was awesome, as we're big fans.

I heard rumors that 2025 Japan Do might be in Kumamoto.

Pros:
- Located in Kyushu, which tends to be under explored and under appreciated
- Historic black castle & Kumamon
- Easy access by Shinkansen to Kagoshima, Fukuoka, and Shimanoseki fish market
- Scenic train to Mt Aso and Kurosawa Onsen
- Horse sashimi
- Bunch of breweries and beer bars

Cons:
- Smaller city
- Fewer major chain hotels

I also think Shikoku DO might be a fun idea. This is the only major island we havent done yet.

Pros:
- Lots of castles & castle ruins
- Generally off the major tourist circuit
- Naoshima & Teshima Art Islands
- Takamatsu style Udon

Cons:
- Dont have any

Is it a lens distortion effect or why do I like twice as large as everyone else in the photo?! 🙄

More Kumamoto pros:
- OnePiece statues all around Kumamoto, we visited all 10!
- sweet potatoes (hot or cold) from vending machine!
- ditto re Kumamon!

I havent heard any rumours about Kumamoto or Shikoku.

Easter 2025 is late, almost as late as in 2019 when we went to Sapporo for Hokkai-Do.
Ive been thinking of Kanazawa with a post-do visit to Tateyama Snow Corridor which opens between mid-April and mid-June each year and possibly a stay at an onsen nearby. In addition to Kanazawa itself, we might go on a day trip to visit Tōjinbō Cliffs, Eiheiji Temple, and Maruoka Castle.

Ill start a new thread for further discussion.
