Issues Adding Membership Number to Bookings?
Hi All,
Has anyone had issues recently, while trying to add your Asiana Club membership number to other Star Alliance partner bookings? I had two separate ANA bookings and a UA booking, nether site is accepting the Asiana Club number. I even tried to get the check in agent to add my number for ANA and they could not get it to work. Any ideas on what could be happening? I haven't had any issues up until the last few months. Trying to find any contact details or support for Asiana Club is also difficult...
Thanks all,

Not sure exactly your situation, but back when Asiana had a 9 digit membership number, it was easy. Now Asiana has a 10 digit member number and so for the members who still have the old number, sometimes you have to add a zero (0) to the front of the number for some forms to accept it.

I had the same issue with UA before. I called OZ and they told me that the OZ system doesn't have a field for Middle Name.
For an existing reservation on UA, I asked the agent to move my middle name into the field for the First Name and that allowed the OZ membership number to be added. For new reservations, I put my first and middle names into the First Name field (with a space) and it takes the OZ number without any issues. HTH.

- OZ had my first name with 2 words.
- ANA had my booking with just the first part of my first name. OZ would recognize it and give me status.
- UA would see the ANA booking + the OZ FFP and not recognize it because of the 2nd part missing, and they were never able to fix it because it was coming from ANA.
- If ANA rebooked, the whole award ticket would need to be rebooked.
It never got fixed. I have to fix ANA.

You're lucky. I had a situation where:
It never got fixed. I have to fix ANA.

I managed to get it added to my UA booking, but no luck with ANA yet.
The kicker is, I tried to make a retroactive claim for a flight I took on ANA a couple of weeks ago and they "couldn't find my name on the ticket" despite the fact I literally sent the e-ticket and boarding pass.

I had this problem on a Copa booking the other day, no confirmation, but I believe it had to do with my naming convention and so did the lounge agent in PTY.
My Copa ticket was FirstName LastName, my account with OZ is FirstName MiddleName LastName. Every time I tried to link it, I kept getting an error. I booked Copa on the way back, different ticket though, I made sure to add my middle name, although Copa doesn't allow for a middle name, so I just put both names in the first name box. Worked like a charm.

United has had the same issue for years, also there are a lot of front line airport people who don't want to extend *G benefits even with a card (violation of *A rules). The line is that they can't verify status because there isn't an actual expiration date on my card/screen shot (I'm Lifetime Diamond Plus, obviously still alive) along with the issue of the name formats aren't compatible. RNO, SMF and the international hubs seem to be able to make things work with a minimum of effort.
Happens to me all the time with company/government tickets since they're virtually all international and supposedly the name on reservation has to match the passport with the line that it's APIS requirement. I've asked several FIS/CBP agents who have generally called BS on that since they have to deal with the foreign passports at Immigration and it doesn't seem to bother them.
