If I didn't recognize your username, I would've guessed you were a shill.
Don't get me wrong, I had one of the best nights of my life at this property (strictly a result of the NYE party), and I stayed in their best suite. But I've never heard it put into terms of being a go-to in NY.
Even their best suite didn't hold a candle to PHNY One-Bedroom suite, and their breakfast came to our room in a paper bag.
Glad to hear you had a great experience there.

Undoubtedly many here would agree, some think “about time Hyatt got ONE or ANY good option in the TS area” is more accurate.

It's going to be replacing the Crowne Plaza.

Google it. It's going to be replacing the Crowne Plaza. https://www.hyatt.com/development/explore-hotels/
Be terrific if it does replace Crowne Plaza, for many reasons, including being right on top of one of the few Krispy Kreme stores northeast of the Mason Dixon line 😊. Thanks again.

Thank you. I did (Google it). Before I posted I didnt find any reference to Hyatt Regency Times Square. Even now after reading this quote, I cant find any other reference(s) and cant see anything regarding the Crowne Plaza.

Staying here right now as a Globalist.
We were encouraged to order the breakfast to our room. But according to the menu, it would be delivered in a bag. Im not even sure where I would be expected to eat it. At the desk?!
Would you order it to the room or have it downstairs? The restaurant downstairs looked very small

Oh, thanks, I only caught a glimpse of it when we checked in and the front desk agent mentioned it was “not a full breakfast, just grab&go” and encouraged us to rather have the breakfast in the room, for a better selection.
Is it really a different selection then? I’d actually prefer to eat in the restaurant…

IIRC, the room service menu is different and had a few more hot options, but I thought the breakfast here was pretty weak overall. Room service comes like takeout would and the "restaurant" in the lobby is more of a coffee shop than anything. I also assumed since T45 market had iced coffee, room service would too since both advertise the same brand of coffee, but they didn't and instead offered to give me some cups of ice to go with my hot coffee.

Just finished a 5 night stay here. Used a suite upgrade and the standard suites are very nice. Great location if you want to be near Times Square. Service levels were really high with great staff from front desk to cleaning staff, room service, and t45. One of the best stays in nyc in a while. Globalist room service menu was pretty good and super fast and they never asked or expect tips. T45 staff basically helped us max out the value we could get and even threw in extra items each day with free drinks above and beyond the $80 for two guest limit (maybe more if you have more guests.
If Hyatt Centric Wall Street were only this good .

Has anyone stayed at both the Hyatt Centric and Marriott Marquis? Which is better (w/ top elite status)? The Marquis does have a lounge, but it's closed in the evening on weekends anyway. The breakfast at the Hyatt Centric seems like it would be much better.

Unless you have good reason to expect an upgrade at the Marquis, it's not close IMO.

When I stayed here a few nights in November, I took breakfast in the room because it's more relaxing for me. On one occasion, it was very handy because I didn't have time to eat but could just take it with me. They told me that globalists can order only one item per person, which includes a drink and a fruit (apple or orange). When I suggested adding bacon or avocado or whatever, I was told it would cost extra (unlike downstairs in the restaurant, based on previous reports). I thought the food was fairly high quality, despite arriving in a paper bag. But the menu seemed a bit limited, with just a few variations on a theme (avocado, egg, and bacon on bagel or bread). I liked the avocado toast, but wasn't too excited with the french toast.
The lobby is tiny. My room had no view to speak of. A few things weren't working properly, but it wasn't a big deal, so I didn't call it in. Other than that, the room was comfortable and nice enough for me.
When I checked out, they tried to overcharge me and wouldn't even consider the possibility that they were wrong after a lot of back and forth with various staff. I had to call Hyatt customer service to get it resolved. Two weeks later, I happened to notice an extra charge from the hotel on my credit card that posted a full week after my stay (apparently totally unrelated to the first attempt to overcharge). I once again had to go through customer service to get it resolved. Neither time was there any apology. It was a very unpleasant experience, so I wouldn't stay here again.
