As a practical matter, Chase will only see the credit card transaction. It probably does not matter how you make a reservation, provided that you pay at the hotel, and that the hotel's merchant account is classified as lodging.

A new post on chase.com indicates that amazon.com purchases will qualify for the Q2 2024 5% bonus.

I guess I'm a little confused at this point. The title of this thread still says, "including WFM" however I can find no source that confirms that including the link provided. When I follow the URL quoted it clearly says, "Amazon.com." There is no fine print of footnotes on the page that mention WFM. Additionally, the email I received from Chase yesterday reminding me to register makes absolutely zero mention of Whole Foods, only Amazon.com. Finally, when I activated in the app a few moments ago it only says, "Amazon.com" again no mention whatsoever of Whole Foods.
If WFM is not in fact included in this quarters promo, would it perhaps make sense to edit the thread title to reflect what is really in scope?

WFM is also confirmed in the press release quoted (with a link) in Post 9.
However, when following the link provided in this response I do see the Amazon.com inclusions list with the texted quoted above.
Boy, they sure almost seem to be hiding it though. One would think they would put "including WholeFoods" in parentheses or something on the various communications as I would imagine many will just see Amazon.com and not realize WFM is included (but perhaps that is intentional on Chase's part!)

I did some more digging & found Citi has a list of MCCs, so if anyone can get the actual code from Chase from a recent charge, we can confirm it (3780 is Disneyland Resorts): https://www.citibank.com/tts/solutio...gory-Codes.pdf

Also of note, two mobile food orders that I placed through the My Disney Experience app (and thus paid for at time of order) coded as Fast Food and qualified for the 3x points on dining (which I assume would qualify for 5x points if charged to Freedom this quarter).
One thing that doesn't count as dining is Farmer's Fridge (fresh food sold from refrigerated vending machines in many airports and elsewhere). Instead, it codes as Groceries, with a merchant type of "convenience stores and specialty markets".

Yes, that's what it means when I used it as well.
I use Amex Gold for restaurants as well as it gives 4x (don't have any Citi cards aside for my spouse having an AA one). But this quarter I'll use my new Flex for sure. With the Amex Gold Uber eats and postmates count as restaurants to earn 4x, anyone knows if the same applies to the Flex?
