Chase accounting
  • The PQP bonus is based on spend in a calendar year using the date provided by the merchant.
  • The accumulative total resets on 1 Jan
  • This total spend inclusive of refund and does not include annual fee, interest payments, cash withdraws, ...
  • Refunds after issuance of the PQPs does not revoke the bonus but (probably) creates a negative running balance.
  • Payment of the balance is not required -- just the net accumulative spend in a calendar year
  • Statement date is not a consider, so statement balance should not be used.
  • Chase provides a YTD summary of spend.
  • PQP post weekly, usually on Thursday backdated to previous Monday. A few days after year-end the PQP on the spend after the last Monday of the year posts, backdated to December 31.

Earning Premier qualifying credit with your co-branded MileagePlus credit card

Cardmembers must meet the Premier qualifying flight (PQF) requirement for 1K status. Cardmembers with the UnitedSM Presidential PlusSM Card and UnitedSM Presidential PlusSM Business Card will continue to be able to apply the card-earned PQP to Premier 1K status without having to meet the PQF requirement.
  • Earn up to 1,000 PQP: The UnitedSM Explorer Card, UnitedSM Explorer Business Card, United ClubSM Business Card, United MileagePlus Awards Card, United MileagePlus Card with annual fee, UnitedSM Business Card, and United MileagePlus Business Card earn 500 PQP for every $12,000 in card spend, up to 1,000 PQP in a calendar year.

Each card type has a cap of how many PQP you can earn. However, there is no limit on how many cards you can have, according to the latest FAQ.

Sounds like you have a Quest card, which has a 6,000 PQP cap per calendar year.

Has anyone else run into this?

I'm assuming I should call the 1K desk, but am wondering if they will be able to help on this one...
Is this the only card you have earned PQPs

First call ( or better secure message on the chase site) Chase not UA

Appears there is a promo

Appears to be targeted. Only need to charge $300k to the card to cap out

Chase and UA have no idea of math

I see this offer for a UA business Club card with 1000 PQP for 5k spend "50,000 bonus miles + 1,000 Premier qualifying points (PQP) ? after you spend $5,000 on purchases in the first 3 months your account is open.**

and then further below
  1. Earn up to 1,000 Premier qualifying points (PQP)

Youll earn 25 PQP for every $500 you spend on purchases with your Club Business Card (up to 1,000 PQP in a calendar year) that can be applied toward your Premier status qualification, up to and including the Premier 1K level.**
Does UA really think high spenders with a business club card wil only spend 20k in a year?
and does the sign up bonus mean the max is reached already?

I think some intern at UA / Chase forgot that the club cards should both earn 10k

I imagine its designed that way on purpose. A lot easier to rack up spending on a business card than a personal one.

If you want people to spend more on a card, then why cap the benefit?
I think it is a fat finger typo that has just gone on undetected - anyone with a business club card probaly just got a personal club card

I have the business club. No reason for me to switch to the personal version.

I had been posting every Thursday like clockwork, backdated to Monday. Today, nothing. And I definitely spend over $500 a week, so I should be seeing PQPs every week. Anyone else missing this week?

No mistake, the business cards are capped at 1,000 PQPs

The personal card have much higher PQPs caps

I have the personal P Plus card - 10k PQP max + 6k from Quest if I get it and 1k from my business explorer etc
My spouse has the business P Plus card - 10k PQP max + 10 more if needed from the club card

It is crazy that Chase has not aligned the 2 club cards.
The only good news is that no way we will spend 500k on UA for status
i'd rather spend on our multiple Ink cash and Ink Plus card (also grandafathered) and collect 5x from Chase (hidden among other spend)
Say Vandelay likes this.

PQP credit from credit card spending

I recently got a United Business Club Card. I met the spending requirement and received the promised 50k miles. I was also supposed to receive 1000 PQPs which I desperately need for status. Can anyone tell me how long I can expect to wait for the PQPs to show up in my MP account? I have spoken to the MP account service department and I keep getting told it will take another 5-7 business days. I've been getting this runaround for 3 weeks now. United obviously knows I met the spending requirement because they credited me with the miles. Thanks!

Historically, for regular PQP earnings, it has been 3-4 weeks after the closing date of the month when the PQPs were earned. Not sure if that also applies to the signup promo bonus PQPs.

I also cant speak to bonus PQP, but with the change to regular earning this year at the $500 spending increments (25 PQP/$500 spent) vs. the 25k increments (500 PQP/$25k), they have been generally posting for me a couple of times a month. Some have said weekly, and I havent been tracking closely against my spending to see if those missing weeks are when I havent hit a threshold. But they generally post dated on a Mondaybut typically, card earnings are backdated, so while my last PQP from card earning posted with a date of Aug. 5, likely I wouldnt have seen it displayed on the account until the 7/8 of Aug.

I made two separate purchases on my Club Infinite card -- $5,000 and $10,000 -- around 8/23.

The $5,000 purchase posted its PQPs on Monday 8/26, but the $10,000 didn't. Is there commonly a delay for larger purchases? I wouldn't care except for the fact I am getting awfully close to 1K for the year.
