amanbali

I would hate for you to miss out on Amanjiwo while in Indonesia. You really should add the four day package on to your honeymoon You want room 1 or 6 there without a pool. The terrece is much nicer without a pool and the resorts pool is perfect. You will not be sorry you did this!
Amanusa with a pool you want 34, high on the hill. Amankila I like the pool rooms better for the reason that no one can see your terrece as they walk by as non pool rooms tend to be right on the walk way. Amandari is worth reserving a pool suite with gorge view. Relax cause if your just a little unhappy with your room it will be changed.
Komodo expiedition is just the best. Fly to Amanwana and spend three nights and then rent the boat. This is what honeymoons are for.
If you do Begawan Giri and I loved it book the Master Suite at Tirta Ening as the bath is the best in Bali.Sumatra the butler is really the one who takes care of you so make sure to request him. What a joy he is to have around thinking of everything for you.

The Ritz, just wrong, and Four Seasons just did'nt get it!!!

I totally agree....Amanjiwo should be on your list and for at least 3 nights. It is by far the most beautiful Aman property in a mystical setting. And yes forget about The Ritz...It is truly awful and should be avoided at all costs...You could be anywhere...service is inconsistent and the resort is crowded with noisy package tours tourists!!!!

I like the idea of a mega resort to start with while staying in the Villa will allow us to be away from it all when we don't want the the mega feel.

Beach - 2 nights in a Beach Front Villa at Amanusa (Nusa Dua) Right side of Penninsula - East
Mountains - 2 nights in a Villa at Amandari (Ubud) this is where FS Sayan is located - Middle
Beach - 3 nights in a Beach Front Villa at Amankilla (Candi Dasa) Main Island - South East

Should I allocate more time to the mountains? Move around less? This is our honeymoon so we will venture out periodically but hope to stay secluded also!

Alfred--
I really think you're nuts to keep moving around on your honeymoon - do 1 beach & 1 mountains - probably in reverse order - all that packing & unpacking & moving would make me crazy! If you're having a big wedding, you're just going to want to kick back & relax & enjoy that private pool! Get to know 1 or 2 places really well & feel like more than just a couple of nights visitor, moving on in a day or two...

packing, unpacking

Amanresorts will do the packing and unpacking for you so your cloths are at the next resort all put away. Begawan Giri also presses your cloths when you get there and Sumatra asked us what we will be wearing on our departure so it could be pressed as well. I never felt like I was moving around too much as each place make us feel at home right away. Also you can plan your site seeing around which part of the island your staying on.

I know this, but you're still schlepping between places, ruining entire days moving instead of relaxing & enjoying. Bali isn't all that big of an island - a stay in the mountains & one at the beach should suffice quite well - it's their honeymoon!

I agree. Moving ones crap all over the island is no way to spend a vacation, much less a honeymoon. Irregardless of who packs and unpacks you. The OP is going to Bali for crying out loud. Last I was there, there are way more interesting things to do in/around Bali than try and squeeze in stays at every 5* on the island. It is a trip to Bali, not a hotel run! My impressions are we were having a good enough time that we did not want to change hotels to Jimbarran from Sayan.

A seclulded villa, 1 in the Mountain, 1 at beach, a couple of bottles of Krug (or the bubbly of your choice) from dutyfree, are just about all you need for an enjoyable honeymoon.

Even the most novice traveler I have spoken with never felt moving form one Amanresort in Indonesia to another was much of an effort. Infact it inables you to see the interesting things in Bali during transfer and see the real Indonesia if your willing to leave Bali. This is just a suggestion to the OP if they know they like to stay put then they should. Amanresorts gets you to experience the world outside you hotel and makes your time in the room very nice for a honeymoon. Thank the gods for all the choices of hotels and villas on the island. It seems as you have each Amanresort to yourself as others have chosen to stay else where.

Don't take this the wrong way, but your post is starting to sound like an Aman commercial.

Perhaps the novice traveler doesnt mind the move and feels this is the way to "experience the world outside the hotel." The well-heeled traveller will hire a car and driver for a day or two and zip around the island.

We have booked the Aman package which includes tours at each Aman resort. So the idea is that we show up, eat, drink, hide out, tour around the local area and then have the driver take us on to the next resort.

Nothing else is required, we don't check in and out, we don't pack and unpack, we just show up and move on to the next stop. We don't have to do anything! This allows more time to explore each local area then having to hire a car for several day's and take it all in at once.

Different strokes I guess as I would not call myself a novice traveler with over 2 million miles on AA and 1 million miles on CO.

Sorry, I know that but I really have liked staying at their properties and I hate to see someone who's asking miss it. My new commerical is for those who want to help in Thailand. Amanpuri is offering 50% discounts till October 2005. The hotel workers and all of Phuket could use your money.
