No Sky Club Access on Central America Itinerary
Travel UA and AA a lot, they provide club access when traveling to Central America but just bought my first DL flight ever and was turned away at club (told access when flying to Central America is only on Delta One which doesn't exist for that market.)
Interesting they do not match their competitors on this. Not an option for me goimg forward.

Delta are correct on this. Which makes DL the only airline on the planet that does not give international first class passengers lounge access.
Not that you're missing much; DL has put very little effort in their premium lounges. Time for them ( and other NA airlines their game). I just flew a Qatar Airlines flight from Qatar to Dubai in first class. The lounge I had acces to was far superior than any lounge in North America.

DL leads the way for the others in being even more of a credit card company that happens to fly to a few places. If you want lounge access when flying DL, get one of the various AMEX products. Those all get priority for SkyClub access over anything else.

It's worth noting that until the end of the month, STE+ (which includes Gold, Platinum, and Diamond Medallion) gets lounge access when traveling on any non-Caribbean international flight.
After February 2, GM/PM/DM has to be flying PS or J (including domestic recliners) to get lounge access when traveling internationally.

How many SkyTeam lounges that aren't SkyClubs will someone on a US -> Canada/Mexico/Central America itinerary be able to even see a dragon? Aeromexico doesn't have a large lounge footprint...

the entire response, including the part I quoted, seemed to be referring to Delta STE+ systemwide, not just Central America. Hence, my question.

GM/PM/DM in W/J on DL also get access to Sky Clubs.
This policy is intricate for sure.
I think the only non-DL SkyTeam lounges are KE and AF/KL lounges in the US. For AF lounges, that's BOS (where it's in E and not very good), JFK (where it's in T1 so irrelevant), IAH, IAD, and SFO (currently closed). For KE lounges that's HNL, LAX, and JFK (T1).

You are correct, all STE+ (including GM/PM/DM) in any class get access to any non-SkyClub SkyTeam lounge.
GM/PM/DM in W/J on DL also get access to Sky Clubs.

Admirals Clubs are also crowded but less so than Sky Clubs judging by what I read online. Surprised that they are more stingy than others when it comes to international itineraries but I guess the credit card entrances explain that. As someone who doesn't fly DL (this is my first flight) I can assure you that the lounge situation isn't much better at AA or UA. I have an Admirals Club membership for solely US itineraries but I'm giving that up at the end of the membership year. I usually get access on AA and UA due to class of travel as well as status.

Note that "international First Class" on DL is identical to it's domestic First Class product/service. DL ditched it's traditional international First Class many years ago (while still being offered on a few partners like AF and KE). They did continue to offer lounge access on DL international FC flights (excluding Caribbean) up until around the end of 2018 before limited it to Delta One marketed flights only (unless you had DL STE+ status which continued to provide Sky Club access on international flights in all classes of service except for Caribbean flights).
