You're not providing any useful information.

I picked random dates again, and as SE, I can get YVR-YYZ round-trip in business on the flights I'd likely want for 21.9k.

If I ignore the priority reward (but then we can't talk about the before-times with IKK), it's still less than under the old program.

I don't expect to be treated magically.

I booked YYZ-AMS in J with AC last night for 55k points. The same flight this morning is 150k points. Insane.

I noticed that many of the YYZ-YUL flights in J are consistently priced at a premium and closer to 25k than 15k even if it doesn't appear that any J seat on the flights have been taken.

I get that certain routes will be priced at a premium, but I thought that at least one seat would be priced at the lower end of the range. I guess I was wrong!

So I have to do a small trip next week and was going to take my Wife with me

YYZ-YUL-YYT-YYZ with points is 75,000 points (give or take)

That seems.....high

I mean, booking a week out most things will be expensive, and that route is >$1000 in cash for next week.

It's one of the sour spots of any revenue-managed award program for sure; much like cash, if you book that in advance you'll pay half of what you're seeing for last-minute.

Not really that new. You had the option to throw a ton of points at trips in the past, this system just has a lot more data points between highest and lowest.

Is Aeroplan award chart a lie?

On the award chart, Aeroplan lists 1,501 - 2,750 mile zone within north america as costing 25000 - 60000 aeroplan miles, but when I did a quick search for LAX-YYZ in august/september (after canada reopening border), a lot of flights are costing more than 100000 miles. Is this a lie from Aeroplan or was there some change about the award chart that I am not aware of? And there is also ZERO availability on 25000 pricing for the dates I searched. I found that zero availability on saver award during pandemic with Canadian border closing and low demand is ridiculous.

Also, air canada business award used to be reasonably available for partner booking on United or other *A partners, but a quick search on United shows there is almost NOTHING available for LAX-YYZ business class award! Again, is this Air Canada becoming stingy after last year's program change or was there some other change that I am not aware of?

I banked a lot of United and SQ miles knowing AC has good business class award availability for partner, but I am worried: Am I screwed?

I was able to see some partner award available few months ago (this is after the last year's program change), and now they are gone. Can someone explain what's going on with Aeroplan in last few months?

Are we unofficially kissing goodbye to use partner miles to book business class on AC-operated flight?

Because there is almost no saver award availability on the new Aeroplan program for business class on AC metal.

No saver award availability means no AC flight on partner search engine!

I am talking about routes like LAX-YYZ, SFO-YYZ, YVR-YYZ, plus most international long haul flights, not shorter route like YYZ-YUL, etc.

The one I searched before replying was SFO-YYZ

That is incorrect. It needs partner I space, which tends to be correlated with being at the low end of the range, but it's certainly not always. There are definitely cases where AC wants 50k and UA wants 25k for the same flight.
