2 hours is probably OK and I would book it...realizing of course the risk that if you don't make it, it would mean a hotel night at IAD. As long as nothing time critical you need to be at STL early next day for...

If you look at the CBP website, it shows average wait times of well under 10 minutes at IAD in that time slot. However, it looks like the mid-concourse facility closes earlier than your arrival so I guess you'd be going through the main terminal.

Does anyone have experience flying in on Etihad AUH (preclearance) to IAD? I have a 1:05hr domestic connection I am considering, and wanted to know how feasible this is...

Egh, United just had a schedule change that decreased my connection in IAD (domestic to intl) to 52 minutes. Can I still make it? Both inbound and outbound flights are widebodies.
Only alternative is to leave 3 hours earlier and take an extra connection in DEN, or arrive the previous night in IAD.

That's tight but potentially doable with preclearance - UA begins boarding widebodies at 50 minutes before departure. Figure 15 minutes from stepping into terminal to get to your gate in C/D minimum (depending on arrival/departure gate the aerotrain or bus may be faster. There's a lot of walking involved, so if you're a slow walker add time.

Technically they can close int'l flights at T-30, so that leaves you with 22 minutes assuming your door opens on time and you're the first passenger off. Throw in a small arrival delay / deboarding delay and you'll miss it...and then on the other side early arrival, small departure delay, or them holding the flight open till T-20 or T-15 and you'll make it no problem.
For me it (almost) never makes sense to have a guaranteed overnight hotel stay to avoid the chance that I'll miss a connection and MAYBE have to get a hotel room. But it really depends on how bad a 1-day arrival day would be for you, whether you need seats together with family, whether you have onward ground travel booked at destination, and your general risk tolerance

If you're lucky D to A can potentially be faster than, say D8 to C4, but that of course depends on luck.

Also a different scenario - domestic to international transfer. Both arriving and departing flights should be close to each other, from a gates perspective. Personally, I would have no problem with 52 minutes.

BOS-IAD-ATH just got shortened to 44 minutes after a schedule change. I thought MCT is 45? It’s fully ticketed. I don’t love it but wonder if I have a decent shot at making it. Late August travel. Looks like BOS-IAD typically arrives at D and assume that IAD-ATH will also be C/D.

If both are UA mainline, DI MCT is 40/35 minutes (per EF)
No sure when the 35 mins applies, but that's crazy for IAD.
