If it were available for space I'd agree but I was under the impression it was an International rule: When the bin is full, close it. I'd wager that thought had gone into this but not for the reasons you've given. If he really wanted to be helpful he could have tipped them in on their sides rather than their backs - the 737 sky interior bins are designed to take bags side on in this way to make room for more bags.

As a newly demoted member who is now bronze I should really throw some DYKWIA tantrums when I pass through T5. I will wave my card around, push through a bunch of golds etc announcing how important I am. Well BA did send my card early...
MrD has pointed out that we are travelling in club I get the same benefits as silver:
Still think I should throw one for the entertainment value (not really but we need a good <or bad> full blown DYKWIA).

I like my drink as much (perhaps more than) the next guy but this it's just beyond absurd to interrupt someone helping a pax having a medical issue to as for a top up.

Let's not turn the DYKWIA thread into another debate about bag tags. We'll never bridge the gap between those who apparently can't identify their own bags unless they're adorned with shiny status symbols and those who think that flaunting your frequent-flyer credentials everywhere you go makes you look like a bit of a tit.
I, of course, have no opinion on this and am completely neutral.

I had a DYKWIA at STR last night. The set up there is a bit special as they usually have a "pen" at Gate 344 for Priority passengers and use Gate 343 for groups 4+5 (they lead to the same jet bridge). Last night they had some technical issues at 344, so everyone had to go to the other side. Numerous calls for 1, 2 and 3 who were then all held in the pen at 343.
Just as they were about to call Group 4 and 5 (I was 4) someone barges past and says in German "I am priority, I have to board first, all these people there can surely not be priority". They scanned is BP but he couldn't find his passport. This man then almost threw a tantrum when the gate agents insisted on seeing either his passport or his ID Card.
Once the errant passport was finally located he had it checked and then proceeded to cut in at the front of the queue to ensure he made everyone aware of his importance. After all he was a bronze member.
Fairly sure he's also a "towel on sun lounger at 4am" person.

A number of Germans of my acquaintance have that very same joke about the English. But let's face it we can have beat them at football when it counts, and the war is so last century, so all we have left is the sunbeds.

I never display bag tags but I've come to the conclusion that people who do can't for a moment imagine anyone who doesn't display tags has any status at all and as such they are third class citizens to be pushed aside!
