refund chances?

So I had an interesting experience today.

I was on a flex business ticket and missed my original intra-European flight at 10am. I went to the ticket counter and they said they could not put me on the waitlist for the next flight but I could pay the fare difference to take a very late flight out. So much for Flexible Business Class

Begrudgingly I forked over EUR 360 to get a confirmed seat in C booking class (up from Z apparently) on a 9pm flight. Allegedly they were not able to put me on the waitlist for any other flights in the middle of the day and not able to downgrade me to Economy.

I then went to the gate for the next flight at 1pm and they actually got me on the flight, albeit in Y (Flex Economy). I am suspecting they could have done that without me first up-faring into a higher Business booking class.

Any chance to get my 360 EURO back? IF so, how?

This was the first leg of a roundtrip

It probably depends on that the fare basis was for your original itinerary and what made up fare LH came up on the spot. Could very well be that the Y fare was still more expensive then the Z fare you had - but should be cheaper then the full C, so maybe 50 EUR is at stake here... wouldn't be surprised if there was a a service charge for a refund too...

Since July 17, all intra European tickets with xBUZ fares in C or xFLEX in Y are free of charge to change on the day of departure. The available booking class is immaterial, all you need is a available seat in the service cabin. What fare were you on?

in Z. When I booked it was advertised as flexible and that I could change flights with the green check mark....I know because I was thinking my connection is tight from a separate ticket inbound so I will likely miss it but if I do I can just rebook it being in business in a flexible fare. Not so much luck

where would I go for a refund?

Before departure, in airline terms flexible means at best refundable. Your ticket will still be evaluated against the going rate, which may very well result an up charge - and obviously, the airline can set the going rate as it pleases.

I'd suggest calling LH or contacting them via the website.

If you had a ZBUZ fare then they upcharged you. What was the fare code?
