Excited for a couple of AUS trips now. Challenger Hemi or Mercs. Feel like some value for the Hertz PC!

AUS PC Report.

It was very well stocked. Very few empty spots. However unlike at RDU there were zero 'premium' cars. IE no Infiniti or Caddilac. There were many sedans and a lot of Nissans. Also some smaller SUVs. I chose the line Kia Optima with 9000 miles.

There was an SS in the PC UC section? Wow.

I think if Hertz wants this program to really make an impact they really need to try and normalize what is there. As I posted UC PC section at RDU was great. At AUS it was weak at best.

I rented from Avis @ AUS last year with a 12:30 AM arrival and they said the system wouldn't let me pick up car until after midnight. My flight got in 45 minutes early so I literally had to sit there until the clocked turned because she said she couldn't access my reservation until her computer recognized the new day. It didn't change the number of days on the reservation anyway. I filed a complaint and got like $100 but it struck me as suspicious. Hopefully Hertz is better than that.

As for the Nissan Rogue, I had a reservation yesterday at MSN which has counter service only. They pre-assigned me to a Kia Soul. Ummm, no thanks. That may even be a downgrade from an Intermediate. I cancelled the reservation via the app (it let me even though car assigned) and am just going to Lyft/Uber/Bike it as Madison has bike rentals as well.

Pretty weak offerings in the PC aisle this Tuesday at 11:15 AM

I took a Chrysler 300 which was the best of the crappy options which as you can see include some tiny Buick, a huge pickup truck and an Impala.

Old news but I rented over Labor Day Weekend (9/2) and it was pretty much what you'd expect:

Nissan Armada
3x Buick Envision
3x Buick LaCrosse
Choose your color Toyota Avalon, Nissan Rogue, or Kia Sportage
1x Toyota Sienna XLE

Needed a minivan, so I grabbed the Sienna.

Austin PC UC area Wednesday at noon local time. Horrible. Literally the worst I have ever seen. My plane was over an hour late or I would have gone back to counter and asked if something could be done. Vehicle options:

1x F150 4 Door
1x Dodge Ram 4 Door
1x Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara Edition

I took the Jeep. There wasn't even a sedan of any type. I look forward to Austin as the worst car I have gotten previously on a half dozen visits was an Infiniti.

does choice vary for one-way

I'll be renting a one-way from AUS (to HOU) next month. I note this is an "ultimate choice" destination, but will the fact that I've booked a one-way limit my choice? In locations where one gets designated categories, one-ways have definitely limited my choices: sometimes to something massive, and sometimes the opposite.

I've done one-way rentals from AUS to IAH and still had my pick of vehicles. I think I selected a Jeep Patriot.

Just watch the receipt. I was charged a, "cleaning fee," as they said I had smoked in the vehicle. Took a bit of back/forth, and had to get in touch with the manager at IAH to remove the charge (note: I don't smoke. I have asthma and if I did smoke or have someone in the vehicle smoking, it would be a major problem. plus I wear contacts, and the smoke bothers my eyes. so no, I did not smoke in the vehicle).
