AM: Reissue ticket for non-CX award not allowed

Hi all,

I just thought I'd share this with you - I'm currently booked into a QF flight from Sydney to Tokyo in Y+ which I want to change into a JL flight in J.

My understanding would be that this would be subject to ticket reissue, i.e. 100 USD per ticket.

AM have told me that while they used to do this for non-CX award bookings, now they can't and the ticket must be cancelled, refunded and then a new booking made, i.e. 120 USD. The reason they said was that partner airlines are not happy with them reissuing tickets.

Their terms and conditions on this haven't changed, as far as I can see it should be 100 USD for ticket reissuance, regardless of what partner airlines say, the T&Cs are what we have agreed to and any issue they have with partner airlines is their problem not mine.

Has anyone else encountered this recently? Or is this a hang up and try again scenario?

So AM said that it cannot be re-issued but they can cancel, refund and booking a new award . Seems that AM is playing with the wordings - canceling, refunding and booking a new award is not re-issuing .

I did dig into this

I got two agents to say this can be done for us$120 (consistent with http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/catha...l#post26093391) , with a possible reduction to us$100 or even us$25 for CX <--> KA, but generally us$120 if a non-CX/Ka partner is involved (I also had one agent saying changing to/from a partner is not possible under any circumstances)

I wonder is CX ever going to be not happy with grAAbers reissuing tickets http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/catha...t-allowed.html , or does CX turn the other cheek for grAAbers that it refuses to turn for its own?

I just saw point 5. in the terms and conditions for reissuance... didn't see that before!

I swear this is a new thing, though they don't put the date the T&Cs were updated...

Tickets for Airline Award Travel may be re-issued:
Only for travel by the same person
Provided no part of the ticket for Airline Award Travel has been used
Subject to additional mileage credits being required if the new journey belongs to a higher award zone
USD100 or 10,000 mileage credits will be charged each time a ticket is reissued.
Subject to having the same expiry date as the original ticket and for use on the same airline

No it's not. It's even in the 2008 terms http://web.archive.org/web/200810080.../en/site/terms

Per the terms, the agent is right, US$120 is the correct amount.
