Not all 1-2-1 configs are created alike - there are the really good ones (the CX/new AA reverse herringbone style, the wide SQ ones, the staggered NH/OZ/TG ones, etc.) and then there are the older herringbones (like DL, AC, etc) which are much more cramped (they have been called "coffins" for a reason), have smaller screens, etc.

Assuming you're not in one of the two middle seats in the 4 pack, I think I definitely take the UA seat over the DL one (comparing hard product only).

I recognize the DL 764s are the better staggered style.

I think on UA its widely varied at this point. The PM IPTE 763 is great in F or J, the 772/744 is great other than the middle seats.. The new CO equipped 763 however has J seats that are 21" wide and only (because the foot well is so small) effectively about 5'10" to 6' long in all rows except row 1. It was the worst seat I think I have been in recently. I'll take any DL or AA plane, or even an old UA cradle seat over the ***** seat UA has decided is ok in "business first" on redone763s.

What concerns me is the direction, and on DL its good, on UA it is bad.

New hourly SFO-LAX shuttle service

It will be interesting to see how UA reacts to this...

"New hourly SFO-LAX shuttle service"

Chris McGinnis / SFGate Travel Writer

http://blog.sfgate.com/cmcginnis/201...uttle-service/

"Today Delta announced that it will begin hourly, nonstop Delta Shuttle service between Los Angeles International and San Francisco International airports on Sept. 3, 2013.

The Delta Shuttle operation will include 14 daily flights in each direction and a product tailored to business travelers operating similarly to its New York Shuttle.

Flights will depart at the top of the hour beginning at 7 a.m. Monday through Friday and will be operated by Delta Connection partner, Compass Airlines using 76-passenger E-175 aircraft with 12 First Class, 12 Economy Comfort and 52 Economy seats."

"The Delta Shuttle is entering a tough market that has had a number of airlines enter and exit over recent decades.

On Thursday, there are more than 50 round trips scheduled between the two airports, according to FlightStats.com.

United Airlines operates 15. Southwest Airlines operates 11. Virgin America operates eight. American Airlines operates six. Regional carrier SkyWest Airlines operates 10 as a Delta Connection carriers. Delta operates only one flight on its own metal.

In seats, United is the clear leader with more than 2,100 seats each direction. Southwest Airlines operates 1,573, assuming that all its 737s on that route have 143 seats. American has 900 to 960, depending on the seating capacity of its Boeing 737-800s.

The 14 flights by Compass as Delta Connection will offer 1,064 seats each direction."

This may technically be true if you only count SFO-LAX, but if you count other airports (OAK, SJC in the north, BUR/ONT in the south), WN probably has at least 3x the daily passenger capacity of UA between the bay area and Los Angeles.
