+1. I would return in a heartbeat. The food is not glam or sophisticated in presentation, but it is delicious and varied. I actually like their overall approach more than places where there is a menu that doesn't change as often. Every day lunch and dinner menus are different. And the food was excellent. And the snorkelling was out-of-this-world good; the best snorkelling of any place we have been. Diving was equally spectacular, I just didn't get to do very much as Ms. Ridefar is not a diver. And let's not forget movies on the beach at night for 2.

Amanwana is my second favorite Aman, after Amanpulo. Tied for #2 with Amanbagh actually.

Wow, what a major difference between the first set of pictures and the second.

The first set would actually tempt me into visiting (even though there is no pool), but the second set put a stop to that idea...

the point is that those pics happened once. how it happened that the annual refresh was not 100% done in 2010, i have no idea. i dont recall another discussion coming up before or after.

i quoted posts where people stayed similar time as Groombridge and had no issues whatsoever. i thought my posts were clear. i did not want to quote all of Groombridge's lengthy discussion. the point was he raised valid issues. years ago.

Your posts were clear, but at that price point, for an Aman, those pics should never happen. The fact that they did, even once, would concern me. When I go an Aman, I don't want to be the one in the tent that they 'forgot' to refresh.

And to my eyes, those pictures represent more than the missing of one annual refresh. This looks like sustained lack of upkeep to me. I hope they have fixed that, but who wants to chance it?

there is a lot of discussion of service recovery here, but would be nice to see more, even if unspecific. because problems can happen anywhere at any time at any price point.

example of "refresh" at amanyara >

The local honeycomb ice cream.....mmmmmm.....I can still taste it. ^
Livio Ranza (Italian) was at Sveti Stefan, then I heard was helping out with the opening of Venice, but is now GM at Amanwana.

Jean-Pierre Baratin (opening GM of Sveti Stefan) was also helping out with the Venice opening. I suspect he will soft open Cavtat.

I don't recall her name, but I do recall hearing that she was previously the GM of the Six Senses Con Dao. So apparently Aman 'recruited' her. This information came from Char Grey when I was visiting Amanzoe, so I assume it's pretty accurate.

That's 4 properties in 2 years. Perhaps some short term for training, but still....gotta be tough on families. Makes me appreciate what these GMs do all the more.

I don't remember Livio telling us he was in Venice when we asked about the Aman Grand Canale, I believe he went from Jena --> Sveti Stefan --> Wana. His family was there with him whilst we were there, but only for 2 months I think. A bit tough on his kid since summer holiday is one of their busiest time... Much respect to the GMs who need to juggle all these things around ^
