Not another thread on this (Not directed at the OP, but at BA to sort this out FFS! )

This is my post trying to explain why (I think) this is happening all to often:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/20036986-post110.html

Come on BA - whatever the decision is (grant or refuse lounge access), please sort it out. Its only going to get worse as more and more people see the value of using RFS in CE.....

Yes the U fare class seems to be the problem. MMB recognises it as giving lounge access whereas the lounge agents computer doesn't.

Threads merged and title has been amended. I hope the latter adds clarity to the issue.

I have had the domestic sector in a CE booking from MAN to JER book into Q with no lounge access.

I recently posted success on this, when a reward booking for my partner got her successfully into the lounges at T5, even though her onward connection of MaN was in economy. No questions asked.

Mmm, I always thought a paid CE ticket automatically booked you into Y or J. How long ago was that if I may ask?

I also wonder if the JER part had something to do with it as I can't seem to get a CE ticket price on ba.com which I was looking for re the JER Do (EDI-LGW-JER return). Only from LGW-JER.

Strictly speaking they do. However, if booked through a TA, consolidator or a channel that is not directly BA themselves, they may use another fare bucket for the Domestic sector (albeit one that is combinable with a CE fare bucket) - not exactly sure which fare buckets on UK Domestic flights are combinable with CE flights.

I have never seen BA offering UK Dom connections to CE in anything other than J/Y, but that doesn't mean it hasn't happened in the past if someone booked through the BA call centre for example and the agent used the lowest available fare bucket for the UK Dom sector.

No problem - and certainly not a thicko question by any means...

Please see our trusty friend wikipedia that will explain in must better, coherent English what a consolidator is, rather than me rambling on:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airline_consolidator

Hope that helps

Right, got it now ^

I can now see why fares having a different booking class for dom sectors as per this:

"Tickets purchased through consolidators may have very different fare rules than typical published fares, and sometimes frequent flyer credit may not be accrued."

Far too complicated all this FFr stuff and thank goodness I only have a 7* minute car journey to work with three sets of lights.

* 5 if the lights are at green

Refused lounge access [flying domestic but no recognition of same day CE flight]

Just to let you know the flight was booked on BA.com and it was over the Jubilee weekend last year. Interestingly my outbound MAN to LGW flight was cancelled and when I was rebooked it did book into Y, the return however stayed in Q.
Seems strange that a domestic connection to CE can result into being booked into Q thereby denying lounge access whereas a domestic connection to WT Plus will book into Y/J and give lounge access on the domestic.

I think I'll bow out of this thread as the above info well surpasses my (limited) knowledge!

Refused lounge access [flying domestic but no recognition of same day CE flight]

Dear all

I spent some time with the lounge team on Friday updating our internal policy to clarify some of the points discussed here. We will be re-issuing this to remind our staff of the rules and clarify some details. This can take done time to reach all of our staff but please bear with us and we will do all we can to prevent this from happening to other members. Many apologies to anyone who has been refused access to the lounge when they should have been able to enter.

Warm regards

Nicci

Thanks again Nicci, will the definitive rules be published on ba.com?
