Thanks!
so just to recap, say after my membership year ends, I will currently be on the bronze status.
Does that mean I start from 300 Tier points or 0 Tier points?
Then to get Silver I need how many flights internationally or domestically?

There is. It involves paying for BA flights, and taking them.

After your membership year ends, you will be on 0 Tier Points and bronze.

The number of flights you need is between 4 and 50, depending on what class of travel they are, what distance they are in, and possibly whether they are in expensive booking classes or not. You would need seven one-way flights in World Traveller Plus, for example.

That is potentially enough for Silver, but you would have to take at least one sector in F.

Status is nice, but if you fly so rarely you're better off paying for a higher cabin with the perks you want than try to chase tier points.

F is First Class.

F = First class, you get it by paying a rediculous amount of Money

one thing to note is that you can also get TP's from flying with one world airlines (american, cathay etc).

So domestic flights in the USA with american are a great option to top up your points if you need to.

However, if you will only take the 2 returns per year, i wouldn't worry too much. The lounges are nice, but you'll get much better food in Plane food!
but stick around here and you may end up closer to the front of the plane.

I had never flown business class before finding Flyertalk, noe I have about 10 times, upgrading from WT+ with Avios. I have even flown First which I never thought i would in my whole life!

For two return flights to the US to make Silver, you would need three legs in Club World and one leg in FIRST (or Club World London City).

It's also worth considering a US trip from a European Airport. With the right planning (and a good sale!) you could earn up to 1,200 tier points for a return trip to Hawaii in Club Europe, Club World and AA domestic First for around 1,400 per ticket. Have a look at the ex-EU section of the BA guide.

firehawk, welcome to the BAEC forum!

Please do have a read of the guide signposted at the top of the forum, as it has been written to answer all of your questions and much, much more besides http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...ad-sticky.html

Essentially, the BAEC tiers reward people who travel upwards of 50 sectors per membership year (in any class) OR people who travel fairly regularly in premium classes (World Traveller Plus, Club Europe, Club World or First) on BA or other oneworld airlines.

You need 300 TPs in a membership year for Bronze, 600 for Silver and 1,500 for Gold. Points are reset to 0 at the end of your membership year.

A Club World return from LHR to JFK, for example, will earn you 280 TPs, so almost halfway to Silver after just one return business class longhaul flight.

Enter each sector (eg. LHR-JFK is one sector and JFK-LHR is another sector) here; http://www.britishairways.com/travel...r/public/en_gb and you will find out how many TPs and Avios you will earn per sector.

thanks. I appreciate that.
I think the fact that I upgraded to Business on my way back from HOU-LHR helped!

I dont understand what the difference is here:

"for silver membership you need an aditional 220 Tier points OR 44 eligible flights".... ??

Before your membership year ends, you either need to collect 220 TPs through any number of flights, OR fly 44 flights (for which the number of TPs does not matter).

Silver has a requirement of 600 TPs OR 50 flights (whichever comes first).
