Under 1 hour layover feasible in big delta hubs?

Posted in another forum on this site, but since there's so many different sub-forums, I thought I'd post here.

For frequent Delta travelers, would you think a layovers of under an hour in Atlanta and Salt Lake City are feasible? Same goes for Minneapolis and LaGuardia on my return trip.

Only problem I see is that Laguardia only has one flight to my final destination(Charlottesville, VA)

Itinerary I want to purchase is like this:

CHO->ATL(47 min layover)->SLC(51 min layover)->PDX

PDX->MSP(1 hr 19 min Layover)->LGA(45 min layover)->CHO

I get into Portland in the midday(instead of evening) and don't redeye back to the east coast since I dont want to land and then go back to work the same day. This is the most practical schedule for that

Yes. Just be ready to rock. I'm about to have a 40 min layover in an hour at ATL.

I have had <1 hour layovers work in all the major DL hubs. Definitely doable so long as your inbound flight is on time and you know how to navigate airports.

I wouldn't book the outbound this way--I like to allow lots more time for ATL, especially during certain times of year/day. (Thunderstorm risk, for instance.)

The return looks good to go to me, although it would be better if instead of the last flight of the day Dl at least had a later connection to your final destination.

the atlanta connection is on a tuesday(two months out, so no clue for weather) and leaves at 815 am for slc

its actually their only connection of the day. How are they with re-routing if I miss a connection? They fly to Richmond 4 times a day compared to 1 to Charlottesville.

An hour is absolutely reasonable in Atlanta as long as your inbound isn't delayed.

An hour in Salt Lake is fine, too.

Minny is the only one that might be cutting it a little close. You could conceivably have to do a bunch of walking depending on where your connecting gate is.

LGA in less than an hour should be fairly easy. The only complication will be the bus between C and D, but I have done this layover before without issue, just know the terminal layouts.

30 minutes is definitely doable in SLC. Funny enough the title of this thread reminds me of Dick Anderson proclaiming that Delta is a "big global airline" in the safety announcement that we all love to hate.

You can easily get from any point at DTW to any other point in about 10 to 15 minutes....

once you're off the plane, that is.

LGA can be a huge problem if flights at the Marine Air Terminal are involved, which is not the case here. It could also be tight if there's a line for the airside shuttle between the two DL terminals.

One hour and nineteen minutes at MSP should be fine, especially if you know the general layout and tricks such as hailing one of the electric carts. I would be concerned about a novice attempting it in just an hour, especially if it's the last connection of the day or a small RJ (concourses A and B) is involved.

havent flown through msp in about 10 years, but am really good with airport navigation. I always have my gate info on my phone up to date and maps on there too. I start planning once the wheels hit the ground.

MSP can be a pain in the @$$ depending where you are going from. I'd pick ATL any day of the week.

This is the way to do it unless you already know that airport like the back of your hand, and even then you need to quickly verify the gate assignment without wasting time. I'm always shocked at people with tight connections who don't even look at the hub airport maps in the back on the on-board magazine when they've never been to the airport in question.
