Gallivanters guide are reporting on Twitter that Aman Vinh Hy in Vietnam may be opening Spring 2013. Susan Noonan will be there from June '12 as pre opening GM.

Agree, the date keeps moving back and back, but then, that's the norm for Aman. They like to get things right.

GHM forms new brand together with Chinese Hoteliers

Gallivanters Guide just posted in her Twitter, that GHM/Adrian Zecha will be founding a new brand of chinese luxury hotels called "Ahn Lu", together with Beijing Tourism Group and Great Ocean Group.

Luckily, it will be intimate 50 to 100 room properties, "distilling the essence from the various brands that Adrian Zecha has successfully introduced over the years":

http://www.ghmhotels.com/en/chedi-muscat-oman/news/#

First properties in "two to three years":

- Ahn Luh Dujiangyan in Chengdu, which "is a project where the historical and cultural elements feature prominently given that the Dujiangyan Irrigation System, along with Mount Qingcheng, are placed together on the UNESCO World Heritage List

- Beijing

- One in the Pearl River Delta

- One in Southwest China

---> I will include this new brand at the start of this thread, after I threw out the Setai brand after the Miami Beach Fiasco.

Still do not know what to choose between Ruya and Zo.
I'm looking forward to read first comments of Vuittons in August!

Does anyone got problems contacting the general reservation emails at Amanresorts? The ones that they listed on the website. Almost never got any replies if I email those. Usually end up contacting the GM directly. Fortunately most of them are very helpful and don't mind to assist.

Not quite use to going directly to the GM for simple queries and rate inquiries for me. Usually their staff should take care of that. Maybe Amans are different as all the GMs all very hands-on. My second upcoming stay at Aman ( Amanjiwo ), the reservation is also handled directly by the GM. Great guy.

For Amans I contact the resort team for simple queries and the GM when I have decided to stay. Most GMs answer same day, even when they are away. Some directs me to other team members, some answers all questions directly themselves. Only once (Amanpuri) the GM did not care to answer my emails at all.

Do you book through Virtuoso?

If not, do you get any Virtuoso like benefits when you book directly?

Thanks,
