Paris- Hotel de Sers or Hotel de la Tremoille

Hello!

Over the past few weeks, I've been looking for 4/5* hotel to stay in that is close to the Eiffel tower between the 14th and 16th July 2011.

Due to my preferences of a luxury hotel but my budget of 400 euros per night- 'Hotel de Sers' and 'Hotel de la Tremoille' seem to be the best hotels available.

However, from the information available on their websites they both seems to be equal in stature- therefore I was wondering if any guests who have been to either/both hotels in the past could inform me about their experiences and assist me in selecting the appropriate hotel.

Many thanks,
Adrienne!

I believe the Hotel de Sers has a noisy bar and restaurant area.

You really can't find anything better with a 400€/night budget?

My advice: don't book anything non-refundable. Also I find French hotels (their websites, I mean) often have better prices than those shown on Hotels.com, Travelocity, etc.

Both suggestions share a common theme: legwork is required on your part. Good luck!

Ahh, noisy in a 'there are lots of people having a good time' way or in a 'it's two o'clock in the morning and I haven't slept yet' way?

Haha, they seem to be- suggestions are welcome though!
There are of course hotels such as 'Hotel Vendome' but I don't really want anything that is more than half an hour away from the Eiffel tower (what with it being Bastille day and the metro practically being inaccessible.)

Thanks for the comments so far!

If you don't mind being on the Left Bank (and you shouldn't, it's not far from the Eiffel Tower) check out the Esprit Saint Germain. This is a boutique hotel but very service oriented with parlors that offer complimentary champagne and other drinks and snacks all day long. For 400 euros you should be able to get a deluxe room.

Two things:

1) I don't follow what you mean about the metro being inaccessible - there are several metro stops around the Champs de Mars and even on Bastille Day (in my experience) there isn't a huge crush.

2) Paris is an easily walkable city. You could stay anywhere in the 5th, 6th or 7th arrondissements without much of an issue; at a push, you could even stay in the 4th. It all depends on how much you like to walk (and on the weather, although if it is raining you would probably not be out anyway!).

Thank you, I will look at their website!

Well, a few people have informed me that the metro is ridiculously busy after the fireworks on Bastille day- is this not true?

Haha, walking is fine- I just don't want to be doing it for too long at 11 o'clock at night.

Just a thought...

Check out the Holiday Inn St. Germain Des Pres. New hotel, modern rooms, trendy location, unobstructed views of the Eiffel Tower...probably not quite up to your service standards but for two nights, I think it's worth consideration.

July, 14th is the national day in France, so it's normal if the hotels have high rates.
Anyway, I don't know the hotels you are talking about, but you can consider the hotel Ares Eiffel. I've just checked your dates, and there are rooms for less than 400euros. This hotel is close to the Eiffel Tower, and it's really nice. It's a 4 star.
