AC West - All Y 737s
Well folks the worries about getting your upgrades may soon be over. I spotted some all Y class 737s on YEG-YVR around Christmas (Dec 20/Dec 30). Is this the new AC Jetz in disguise?
Also on the 20th there is a A340 flight YYC-YVR at approx. 7pm on Dec 20!!

WOW!? ITN is also showing only Y fares for sale. Notice that those are all ex-CP aircrafts that has the all Y config but why would they convert the aircrafts so early when nothing is firm for the west LCC?
Or maybe AC is quietly converting some aircrafts on the mainline to have a "LCC airline within the mainline".
Looks like row 2 got some pretty nice legroom.

It's most likely the flight from FRA or LHR. They are probably positioning the aircraft in YVR for an Asia run the next day and then using another A340 for the LHR/FRA run the next day. Seems like there is one A340 flight to/from YYC each day.

The newly configured 20J A320s are also starting to show up. I still don't understand how they can squeeze in 2 rows of Y for the one row of J taken out.
(I picked a random YYZ-YYC for Dec 20 and the total number of people in J all day is totalling less than 30 while Y is packed!)

According to the new timetable YYC-LHR is an A340 again, so that should give YYC 2 A340 routes a day again. Who know if this is true though as the winter season has usually seen the LHR route downgraded to a 767. The FIDS for today at YYC shows the flight being a 767.

It's probably best to avoid row 12 on the A319/320's from now on. Those of you who fly in J might might want to avoid row 5 if you don't want to be disturbed by the people behind you.

Yes, I had one of those converted A320s yesterday afternoon -- hour delay due to non arrival of crew off a late flight: why do they schedule connecting crews for hourly shuttles? -- between YYC and YVR. As noted, the seating in Y is no tighter, and the divider is the curtained version, which does make the first row of Y somewhat tight and awkward. I had 15C, one of the two exits rows [other bring 16].
I noticed a little black triangle marking on the upper wall over one of the windows at row 13, which I assumed was a marker for indicating where the wall was fixed after the original last J row of seats.
I suspect AC will only schedule J service between YEG and YVR on flights connecting to major overseas ones. Most of the rest of the time, there is little use of the front cabin and the majority of non-point-to-point passengers are Y tourists connecting to cheap flights to sun destinations.

Looking at ITN in Jan and Feb YEG-YVR appears to have returned to J config 737's. Did they rip the seats out only to put them back in (I know that they ripped the seats out on at least one 737 because it was all Y - unless this was one of those old all Y 737s from the olden days). Is this due to the "un-zipping" of AC's LCC plans? Odd but frankly I think its better to have a J cabin if you are at least pretending to be a full service carrier.
