The newly configured 20J A320s are also starting to show up. I still don't understand how they can squeeze in 2 rows of Y for the one row of J taken out.

I was on several A320's last weekend, both with the new and old seating configurations. I took notes. They have not decreased the seat pitch in Y at all. Instead, they have replaced the solid divider with a curtain, much like thay have now (for a few more weeks anyway) on the 737's. And they have really squeezed the 2 cabins together. Before, there was lots of room in row 12, and it was easy to get in and out of your seat. Now, there isn't much more leg room than in any other Y row. But the problem is that the J seat in front of you still reclines as much as it used to. When they recline, it feels like the person in front of you is in your lap and you are breathing down their neck. Getting out of your seat is a exercise in flexibility. Also, you can't see the LCD monitor properly anymore from row 12 because it is at too sharp of an angle.
It's probably best to avoid row 12 on the A319/320's from now on. Those of you who fly in J might might want to avoid row 5 if you don't want to be disturbed by the people behind you.
