Yes, I had one of those converted A320s yesterday afternoon -- hour delay due to non arrival of crew off a late flight: why do they schedule connecting crews for hourly shuttles? -- between YYC and YVR. As noted, the seating in Y is no tighter, and the divider is the curtained version, which does make the first row of Y somewhat tight and awkward. I had 15C, one of the two exits rows [other bring 16].

I noticed a little black triangle marking on the upper wall over one of the windows at row 13, which I assumed was a marker for indicating where the wall was fixed after the original last J row of seats.

I suspect AC will only schedule J service between YEG and YVR on flights connecting to major overseas ones. Most of the rest of the time, there is little use of the front cabin and the majority of non-point-to-point passengers are Y tourists connecting to cheap flights to sun destinations.
