When will these new 777 changes be reflected on seatguru.com?

Is the safety presentation done via video or still done by the FAs on the new config?

This isn't the route this 777 will stay on, it is only in it's test runs and being placed on different routes until it gets it's permanent home.

So they seem to feel the new plane will be on its international runs by then, or completed the domestic shake-out and in for maintenance?

I was lucky enough to have the chance to use the satellite-based Lufthansa/Connexion internet connectivity several years back. It was a FRA-HYD leg (Airbus A340), and used 802.11<mumble-probably b> (wifi) onboard.

The inflight map showed our aircraft over some interesting terrain - one wingtip of the icon was over Baghdad, and the other wingtip was over Tehran. Compelled to let someone/anyone know about this (how geeky can one be?), I fired up the laptop and was able to use an instant messenger application to chat with my wife and a few co-workers. The cool-index was pegged.

The latency was noticable, but the connection worked well - I even tried streaming a bit of video, and it worked fine once the connection was going. I'm thinking that the groundstation was doing some form of pre-caching to make the browsing experience acceptable.

I haven't tried the gogo service yet (based in Denver, never need p.s. flights), but given that it's terrestrial-plane link is cell-based, it should have significantly better latency.

sorry I know everyone is asking these types of questions but how about SFO-ORD-FRA on June 7th 2010 or FCO-IAD-DEN-SFO? do you think that maybe I will get on the new 777? And how does that even work if I'm flying first? thanks

According to UA person who would definitely know N794UA is scheduled to go in for painting late next week.

I think they are trying to keep it domestic until it leaves for the paint shop in Korea May 5. That may change of course.....

Forgot to mention, it's doing UA873 as we speak, SFO-IAD.

So when does the next 777 go into the shop? And is UA accelerating conversions at some point?

That is great news! I switched my seat from 2a to 2k so I will not get bumped by the pilot. I hope LHR does not need 2 reserve pilots??? I saw that some of the new 777 config. show a pilot crew rest: Do you think the pilots will still take a crew seat in first class also?
I like the new seat flew a 744 SYD- SFO and SIN-HKG-SFO , the seats were super.

My understanding is that SFO-LHR is too short a flight to require 4 cockpit crew that would require 2 crew rest seats in F so you would be OK.

I also changed seats to 1K / 2k to avoid potential bump issues.

Hmm, so we got the first converted 777 out and then it disappears to the paint shop?

Also, don't see a second one even going in for conversion.

Pretty much now configs til this summer at earliest, I guess.

The Wiki (I can't remember who provided the original data) indicates that 32 are scheduled to be done at SFO by the end of 2012, with 14 more being converted at their heavy checks over the next n years.
