Two recent (nearly concurrent) threads have turned out to be related (thanks to ChicagoAA for making this connection!) and consolidated into this thread.

See http://www.aviationpartnersboeing.co...nyhistory.html
Here are a few dates:
2004
■April 26th: Continental Airlines becomes the first U.S. Major to order Blended Winglets when they place an order for both 757-200 and 737-NG Blended Winglets.
2006
■March 29th: American Airlines orders 76 additional shipsets of 737-800 Blended Winglets.
■May 1st: 1000th shipset of Blended Winglets is installed on an American Airlines 757-200.
■May 26th: Northwest Airlines orders 757-200 Blended Winglets.
■July 19th: American Airlines orders 104 additional shipsets of 757-200 Blended Winglets.
■October 12th: US Airways orders 757-200 Blended Winglets.
2007
■March 22nd: United Airlines orders 757-200 Blended Winglets.
■March 28th: With order from American Airlines for 47 shipsets, APB formally launches certification program for 767-300ER Blended Winglets.
■May 17th: Delta Air Lines orders 737-800 retrofit; 737-700 in-production; and 757-200 Blended Winglets.
■June 8th: Delta Air Lines orders 767-300ER Blended Winglets.
So, while AA wasn't the launch customer for the 752 (CO was - since CO used COPA as a test case in 2002 for 738 winglets, they were more familiar with it), AA quickly got on board, and wqas 3 months ahead of US, 8 months ahead of UA & 10 months ahead of DL. And, AA was the launch customer for the 763 winglet model.

I think it's a case where there's little downside to the airline for offering new service even if it is close to the limits of the plane. Which is the worse of eliminating winter BCN service or having a 757 make a fuel stop/VDB pax?

757 cdg-jfk
I am flying to Paris soon and after reading about 757's having to make fuel stops on the westbound flight, I am wondering if I should try to get the flight with the 767. The later flight which is a 757 is more convenient, however, I don't want to make a fuel stop on the way home. Does anyone know if this has been an issue CDG-JFK ( or EWR) or only with longer flights, like BCN?

yes, going home is westbound. I know eastbound is not a problem and from what I have read the problematic westbound routes ( requiring fuel stops) have been BCN and TXL but I haven't seen anything about flights from CDG making fuel stops.

According to a friend of mine who works for AA at CDG, yes indeed it happens on CDG-JFK, more often than thought originally

This is news to me but must be right since was looking at the arrival time of the BCN JFk flight the last couple of days and has been significant delays... Anybody that can verify this since the reason is that will have a tight connection I JFk otherwise will switch to the MAD-MIA flight (767)...
Have been told the 767 on BCN JFk will resume in February...

when I took this flight last, the FA confirmed that they would be making stops in the winter, although did not specify when. If you can in any way avoid this flight, I would do so. The 767 is MUCH more comfortable. While the seats themselves are not so bad, they are slightly narrower and the 3-3 configuration is not practical [note they are trying to fit 6 seats per row where previously there were only 5 seats]. The 767 2-3-2 is much much better for such a long flight. Also, taking the the 767 increases the odds you will get empty seats on the plane, giving you potentially more room to spread out. [this was the case on my way back to CDG in October and I ended up getting a whole row of 3 in coach to myself] Just my opinion and obviously if you want to take the later flight home I understand - if it were me though and I had to do this again, I would even prefer to change in LHR on the way home (assuming the same fare) and take the 777 home. If you have to stop anyway, might as well have the comforts (e.g. PES) etc of the 777 and stopping in LHR is nicer, especially if you have status and can enjoy the BA lounges....

The OP for this topic is westbound fuel stops not seating.
Pay attention to a thread before posting so as not to take it off topic.
The off topic posts will be moved into a previous thread on seating.

Delays on 757 Westbound from Europe...
Delays on 757 Westbound from Europe...
Have seen comments on different threads regarding refueling stops for the new 757 flying from Europe to NYC...

Also has been reported on the thread that many JFK outbound 757 have been late due to this refueling (i believe someone mentioned JFK-ORD)
Checked this flight for the past 2 week and leaves on time but has an arrival time of 2-3 later than scheduled...

I've heard of this happening on westbound transcons, didn't realize it was a problem eastbound as well.
