Thanks everyone..

I'm 1K. I did have 15A at first.. but changed to 17A (yes.. I know.. ). I'm not a big fan of open seats. I just wanted to make sure I can get out from 17A without bothering anyone.

You should be able to get out of 17A without waking 17B up.

Old Configuration Business Class

If I can't get the upper deck, I actually love 6A or 6H on the lower deck. Yes there is 5" less pitch, and although I'm 6'1", I find legroom to be adequate and can still fully extend the legrest. It is also very easy to get out of the window seat without bothering the aisle passenger, the light/noise from the galley hasn't been an issue in these seats, and the lav traffic is tolerable. Also, I love the view out the windows (3 windows to choose from) and you can get a great angle of the wing & engines. Also one of the first to deplane after First Class.

Just my thoughts as seatguru and seatexpert have varied descriptions (seatexpert actually gives these seats a RED/bad rating). YMMV

No, not even close. Hopefully the FAs will let you put it in the closet, but I have had some tell me no in the past and instead put it "under" the seat in front of me (in fact it did not go under but rather up against).

had the misfortune(or fortune as it's an opup) of sitting in 6H once DEN/ORD, and I think even row 6 on A320 has more legroom.

The only reason that you can access the aisle easily is bacause there is no one in front you to recline.

Well I have 17AB on outbound and return journeys - I hope they are as good as they sound . I cant take row 15 (as I have a child with me and I am 2P ).

Does 17 recline properly?

Rollerboards do not fit in the side bins, for those that are asking.

Re row 6: I have sat in the middle config of row 6, CD I think it was. I would not choose those seats if I had other choices. The footrests bang against the bulkhead and do not extend fully (and I am only 5ft 4in). We were disturbed by noise, lavs etc. Choose another seat would be my advice

Yes, it does. I was in 17B on 867 LAX-HKG on July 19th and slept quite well.

I found that the man in 17A was able to leave his seat without having me retract the legrest.

I've had 15A before, and as much as I enjoy all that extra room, I can't tuck my briefcase against the back of 14A, so it was a little extra hassle getting stuff mid-flight. I think many people don't mind the tradeoff though, myself included.

Hope this works out better than your Row 18 experience.

Thanks for that TradingFiend. I hope so too . According to my good friend Dave, 17AB are great seats if you cant take 15AB .

I am sure he is right, but I will wait until I have actually tried the seats before making my final judgement. I am not so sure he's right in the order of his faces !

I did a last minute PEK-SFO flight last week and was not able to get seats in UD, and decided to try Row 25 for its legroom.

I sat in 25 D (25C and 25F were both vacant) and loved it. This is only good if both 25C and 25F are both vacant. I felt like I am sitting in the center of the airline. Lower deck C were quite empty and the FA were able to provide more personalized services.

In a couple of trips on UD this year, I noticed the FA were stretched to the limit due to packed UD versus fairly empty LD.

I have tried to locate the 36" ones, and have limited success. On the last three 744s I have been on, the pitch for the middle four seats are all configured slightly differently. One one aircraft, row 42 had noticeably bigger pitch than the other rows, while on another aircraft, both rows 41 and 42 had bigger pitch. Row 42 had limited recline on the first aircraft, while row 42 seem to have full recline on the second aircraft.

As someone who is about to experience my first ever taste of UA's 744s in the back, I'm acutely interested in taking advantage of the best seating possible.

Are there any further reports or confirmation of increased pitch in the E+ cabin of the old 744 configuration? Is it just rows 41 and/or row 42 in the middle, or are rows 37-40 in the middle also blessed with the extra pitch?

Other than the fixed armrests and the lousy vantage point to watch the movie, for someone who is approximately 6'0", how would row 36 D or G be for sleeping as far as legroom goes?

Finally, on the newly-configured 744 which appears to be scheduled to operate my return flight from SYD-SFO, are any of the E+ non-exit row seats better than the rest?

There are lots of threads on this subject.

Bottom line is that most pax prefer the UD unless it is full and the LD is empty.
