Seeking Luxury Spa - USA

I looking for a spa getaway - alone. I am seeking a luxury expirience, with an emphasis on diet and fitness. Preferrably the location would be a direct flight from ORD. I also don't know that I want a resort where there is a one week minimum - not sure if I want to go that long. The front runner at this point is Cal-A-Vie in Vista, CA. Anyone ever been there? Any other suggestions?

Fly ORD-ALB and go to Canyon Ranch in the Berkshires. The original US destination spa.

Golden Door at Escodido (at San Diego). They have a 3 or 4days "Interlude" special.

The Lodge at Woodloch in Hawley PA is a quick 2 hour drive from EWR. Just returned from there and throughly enjoyed it! Also can't beat Miraval in Tucson.

I think it is very tough to beat either the Canyon Ranch in the Berkshires or the one in Arizona if you are looking for a health oriented spa. They consistently are rated near the top in that category. They will pick you up in Albany and drive you to the spa which is in a beautiful location in the Berkshires. Ive heard the Arizona one is nice also but havent been there.

If it is a non-health related spa that you are looking for, ie with lots of good wine etc but saunas and the like, Ventana in Big Sur is excellent.

Enchantment Resort in Sedona. Great Spa (all new), excellent cuisine and such a beautiful setting. Go for it.

Enjoy!

We've been to both Canyon Ranches and prefer Tucson (except in summer!), the grounds are more expansive and the gym/spa facilities are more spacious.

Bumping an old thread to see if anyone has any additional comments on a luxury spa retreat. Like the OP, I'm looking to get away for a couple of days or a week and focus on relaxation, diet and fitness. I too will be going by myself (thanks SO for starting a new job with only one week of vacation!!) I have some concerns that as a guy traveling alone I will end up at a place full of couples with kids or even a "girlfriend getaway" place and feel totally out of place. Unlike the OP, I am east coast based so I am leaning more towards a spa close by to avoid a 6+ hour flight to CA or AZ. Have looked at Woodloch in the past and am leaning towards it. Any other suggestions close by or should I just bite the bullet and fly out to CA or AZ and pick one of the ones previously mentioned?

Canyon Ranch in the Berkshires. I wouldnt even consider another place given what you are looking for. I think there will be other single men there as well. My wife and I went but I seem to recall meeting others who were there alone.

I've thought about going to this place since I don't live too far away:

Canyon Ranch in Lenox

A second vote for this property. It can't be beat for the all-around experience, and there will be men there. There are some newly renovated executive rooms that I want to check out on a future visit.

I haven't been to Woodloch, but it strikes me as more of a couples/female place. Even if it's newer, it doesn't have the facilities, the array of activities, and the staff that CR does.
