Aman Summer Palace
For anyone interested in the Aman in Beijing, I found out that contrary to what is said in the brochure, only suites have separate shower and bath. The guestroom and courtyard room only have showers, and no bathtubs due to their size (38 sq m and 39 sq m, respectively). I found this kind of odd for an Aman resort. Every Aman I have stayed in had a shower and bathtub.

True luxury does more care about a historic structure than about a bathtub (sic!)
The property looks very stunning on the first pictures, and its on very, very special, historical grounds.
So I very much appreciate the fact that in the smallest structures of the building Aman did not build big bathrooms with a very small bedroom next to it, but the other way around. That is much more true luxury as the Ritz Carlton-way of building hotels with not reference of the sourroundings/the country/the city.
I am really looking forward visiting Aman Bejing next year - and I do not care a bit about the cretinistique shower-vs-bathtub-question. As long as the service will be on a real Aman level.

I also found out that the Courtyard rooms, the Deluxe suites, and the Courtyard suites are all located in the one story historic courtyard style buildings which were from the Summer Palace era.
While the guest room and the regular suite category are located in blocked buildings (similar shape to the lodges in Amankora) which were originally built in the late 1970s.

My advice is to forget about visiting The Aman At Summer Palace, Aman has much better property to offer then this one
The ones to look out for are:
Laos
Japan
Malaysia
Croatia
Montenegro

That doesn't change the fact that it's disappointing there's not enough room for a shower and a tub!

Can anyone suggest to stupendous-Adrian a tented camp in Socotra? (aka the Galapagos of the Indian ocean)
One of the craziest ecosystems on the planet, jawdropping landscapes, amazing beaches, off the beaten track. So Aman.

Montenegro and Japan have been mentioned on here as future amans with plenty of details on Montenegro in particular.
Do you have more information about Laos, Malaysia or Croatia ? Locations in each country ?

the first entry on page 1 of this thread is always updated!!!
There you find in the "speculative"-column:
Laos - Aman in Louang Phabang, once rumored opening 2009 but then sadly never heard of
In the "sounds real"-column:
Malaysia - Aman in Pulau Besar, on the Island of an inland lake, opening 2009 (Source: http://malaysia-travel.suite101.com/...n_and_air_asia and others).
But no details of Croatia, just "very speculative rumor".
Dear NAMA,
if you have any more information, please be so nice and reply here!

I was looking for more substantive knowledge rather than speculative. The post suggested they had more definitve knowledge in suggesting one avoids Aman Beijing over future Amans.
So, hopefully Nama will respond if they have good information.
