Dozens of CPH cancellations due to wildcat strike

Anyone affected by this?
SAS cancels dozens of flights as Danish cabin crew go on strike
Eds: UPDATES with dozens of flights cancelled
COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) – Scandinavian Airlines canceled more than 60 flights to and from Copenhagen on Tuesday after Danish cabin crew walked out on a wildcat strike, the airline said.
The cancellations affected some 6,000 passengers on European routes, SAS Denmark spokesman Mikkel Londahl said, adding it was not clear how long the strike would last.
“We cannot predict if or when they will return to work again so we can expect more cancellations,” he said.
Cabin crew walked off their jobs shortly after 2:15 p.m. (1215GMT) in an apparent protest over working conditions.
Last month, members of the 1,600-strong Danish Cabin Attendants Union briefly went on a similar wildcat strike. A spokesman for the union did not immediately return calls seeking comment on the latest walkout.
Scandinavian Airlines is the joint flag carrier of Sweden, Denmark and Norway. 241630 apr 07GMT

Cau - Again!!

I love this comment by CAU:

http://www.cau.dk/flora/flora.asp?page=12871

Of course they have initiated the illegal strike

http://www.sas.dk/templates/Flexible...epslanguage=DA

IMO, they should all be fired

Annoying

This is getting really annoying by danish unions....I must say the cabin crew doing these kind of wild cats really drag SK down. Sure this happens other main carriers as well (BA,AZ) but other *A do not have this record, this is just getting SK closer to one day ending up as LH Scandinavia Regional....which I think would be sad.

Today I'm still a bit happy , as I choosed to go from Birmingham to London taking direct SK flight to ARN tonight, instead of going to MAN taking SK via CPH to ARN....but it sure seems like a bit of mess here in T3 with lots of passengers affected by cancelled flights to CPH tonight.

I for sure agree with Tommy that once and for all these kind of actions must be punished,!!

Oh, right -- another strike, I guess it's time for more good old FT union bashing again! Of course, nobody here in this Forum ever stops to think why these workers are driven to such desperate action. Nobody wants to strike; it's not fun; it's not a game. But when the company refuses to listen, tell me, what other recourse do they have? It is undeniably unpleasant for the travellers who are affected by these actions. But instead of getting angry at the staff, how about asking the overpaid bosses for an explanation?

cheers,

Henry

Have they commented what is the problem this time, why are they on strike now? Pay? Work conditions? Benefits? Something else?

I hope SAS would get things sorted out but I personally do not see anything bad in LH Scandinavia Regional either ...

There are rules and contracts between unions and employers. This is an ILLEGAL strike. Period. I understand that people are striking, but when you do it illegally and not announced at all, I have NO understanding or sympathy.

My thought to all the passengers who got their plans ruined..

Strange how the Norwegian and Swedish F/A are able to work under these conditions their Danish "co-workers" claims to be terrible.

Is this the 2 or 3 ILLEGAL action by CAU so far this year?

SAS should sue them for the damage they cause and give them a ultimatum. Either you with us or you're fired! Illegal strikes are AFAIK legal reason to fire employees

I just noticed that SAS has not put any kind of information available regarding this strike to their Finnish web pages. Still they had to cancel few flights to Finland as well.

Not very good communication from SAS.

SAS Sweden is apparently a bit fed up with SAS Denmark;
Monica hultberg, communications SAS Sweden, is quoted in todays SvD:
"We try to explain to passengers (at ARN) that the problems is caused by SAS Denmark and not SAS Sweden".

Hehe ...

From customer point of view the matter is between SAS Group and passenger - passenger is affected and SAS should think what they want to do to keep their customer happy. It is not passenger's problem whether SAS Denmark has local problems with unions. Hiding behind the country organisation is just useless.

I have to agree with Miikka. As a customer I don´t really care how the airline is internally organized. And as customer service agents, the people at ARN will feel the heat, no matter if they´re not on strike, because the angry pax canno´t express themselves to SAS Denmark. And why should the customer even care who works for who? They´re all SAS to us. That´s the biggest problem with the current structure.

Yes. As if the ordinary passenger will know which flight number maps to SAS Sweden and which to SAS Denmark. You book it on one web-page and that is that.

Any ideas on how long this will last? I have a ticket CPH-FRA tomorrow late afternoon (with onward connection to SZG), and I am getting uneasy about it all. Non-full-flex ticket also gives me very few options regarding planning ahead. And since SK flies most of the CPH-FRA flights...
