*G and seating question...
Hi there,
I could not do a full-blown search, but looked thru threads and did not find an answer, so here's my question.
Does SK have any special seating area for elites (*G with UA) to reserve in advance (such as bulkheads or exits rows) in Y for transat travel? Or is all first-come, first-served type thing?
Thanks.

it is first call first serve
call SAS after you made the reservation. call SAS in scandinavia if the local agent tell you that he/she can not assign exit row for you.
i reserverd 3 times exit row in advanced, and SAS upgraded me two times, after my seats were given to another person.
of course i printed my amadeus int. , and presented it at checkin. now on every eco flight on SAS i hope my exit row seat is given to someone else, as normally, after complaining a bit they upgrade you to biz.
So SAS is in my eyes a very nice carrier

If booking directly with SAS you should make sure that your booking is really reflecting your *G status. SAS had some serious problems the last months in seeing other than their own EB statuses. Call and ask if your booking is reflecting your UA *G at all!

I'm only EB Silver on SAS but I have *G with US Air. I prefer to have my points post to EB since my home airport is CPH so I use the EB # in my reservation.
How do I get SAS to recognize my *G status (for better seating options and possible op-ups)? I hand them both cards when I'm at the gate and I tell them I'm *G on the phone, but they really seem to ignore this fact.
Several times when I've explained that I was "Star Alliance Gold" the agent said "what's that?"
I never seem to get preferred seating or upgrades, but am looked upon as a lowly silver (if that). Is there some way I can get my *G status understood?

WindFlyer:
SK has a special seating reserved for other *G - the very last row!
The system will go through and make seat assignments, starting with *G, but then the logic is to fill up from the back to the front! That said, once corrected, I tend to get lucky and get a seat block (which I've got to say is more than UA has managed for me!)
Things may have changed now with the 'snowflake' class. I know that I can pick seats out on our corporate booking site, but only for business and economy flex fares. I guess if you're on a cheapy, they will want to keep you in the food/drink free zone. Heaven help them if you were get a free glass of water!
Edit to add: Opps, misread your OP, this is for short haul only.
