Cash+Points tickets can be a good deal

Hi,

just discovered that Cash+Points tickets sometimes are sometimes a good deal:

Looking at a one way:

EuroBonus Ticket 12.000 Points + 28,54€
Cash+Points: 10.000 Points + 38,50€ or eg. 8.700 points + 48,50€

So the 2k points costs only 10€ (or 3.3k points for 20€). I think that's a good saver rate.

+ that you earn points on tickets paid with cash and points.

That's what I thought as well but some claimed the rules have changed - but so far nobody actually confirmed the rumour.

Would suprise me as it doens't make sense to pay with e.g. 10.000 points and get 1.000 points. If they do, they could just sell the flight for 9.000 points instead

If this statement is correct, I just love Eurobonus, and it is a change:

"Points can be earned for tickets paid, wholly or partly with points."
PS Now I understand there is a difference between Eurobonus award tickets and a regular tickets, paid with points.

And,
wasn't here a thread about P+C ticket which somebody upgraded with optiontown? Logically, all P+C tix should earn miles.

I am planning to try next time book a cheap eco ticket TATL with P+C and upgrade with optiontown in order to earn a bunch of status miles

I have asked EB and got email confirmation that rules have been changed, you do earn points on those mixed tickets. Booking rules as per normal tickets, so what you give up is flexibility in exchange for points.
When i have serached for SFO and CDG tickets from ARN i have found some good options.

I am the one [unless there is another poster] that has asked up flying on tickets bought with approx. 50% cash 50% points and am awaiting upgrade with optiontown. We are heading out end of March, will be sure to report back on both success with upgrades [especially since we have 2 record locator #] and points
.

Not if you get back points

You can use it to get real good discounts, e.g.
Book CPH - SFO 2014-10-13 - 2014-10-19
Cheapest Economy Ticket: 648,03€
Chash+Points: 14.100 points + 507,99€

As Gold I get 14.150 new points for the trip. So I can get rid of 14.100 expiring points and get back 14.150 new ones which also will count towards the status as well as a 150€ discount?

Even better if you look at Plus for the same dates:
Cheapest Economy Ticket: 2 170,03€
Chash+Points: 21.800 points + 746,99€

Same here, exchanging 21.800 old points with 22.000 new ones (which also counts for the status) and get a 1400€ discount?

Are they crazy? That can't be true! If it get's out in the public it is certain to be exploited and ruining the pricing structure.

//EDIT: Hmmm, now I'm unable to find the same deal again... computer glitch?
//EDIT2: No, the Plus deal doesn't work anymore but the Go Saver deal is still working. Tried several dummy bookings which all cleared all the way through. The Plus fare I got quoted was probably a glitch as I now get the same quote for the Go (not saver) class

Surely you cannot be earning EB points as above? A dummy booking doesnt show the potential earned points either.

The points calculator on the booking site very seldom shows anything if correct even if points post correctly
