CPH-HKG via PEK
Good morning,
I have a ticket giving me 45 minutes in transit at PEK going from CPH (SK) to HKG (CA)!
Is that time enough to catch the PEK-HKG (CA) flight? Or call I be ready for a later flight for departure?
Thanks

Is it a legal connection?
45 minutes might be pushing it since you have to pass both immigration and security control in PEK, which could take a bit of time.
On the other hand, if everything is one one ticket and the connection is legal, then it's up to CA to rebook you to a later flight if you don't make it.

Transfers at Chinese airports can sometimes be a bit time consuming. Go to http://en.bcia.com.cn/ and download the “passenger guide”. Make sure to get your PEK-HKG boarding pass in CPH which will save you time not having to visit the transfer desk at PEK. I was quite sure that the MCT for PEK was atleast 60 minutes but if your travel agent/internet booking accepted 45 minutes then I wouldn’t worry too much.

MCT is 60 minutes so 45 minutes shouldn't be bookable.

PEK (terminal 3) is quite effective in terms of immigration (much better than US airports) and luggage, but 45 minutes sounds very narrow. But as HKG (and Macao) is considered international you may skip the immigration. But I’m not sure about this.
According to the Star Alliance Travel Desk the “official” connection in PEK to HKG (from SK) is 1:05 hours to CA 109.
Is it a travel agency, which gave you this connection?

But indeed PEK-HKG is considered an international flight.

The good news is that not many other flights arrive in that terminal at the time of the SK flight so generally the immigration lines are reasonable. Go to the transfer immigration right after the ordinary immigration. If you are quick out of the flight you can be lucky and have no line ahead of you. I've been so lucky a few times.
Should you miss out on the flight there are many others from PEK to HKG - one every 2nd hour or something with CA or Dragonair (they codeshare).

I would try to get a later flight. Do notice that it is usually also possible to take CX and KA flights with CA flight numbers on these legs, on SK tickets. Much preferred IMO!

Yes, they still check your passport for International Transfers at Terminal 3E. To the OP, be sure to follow the "International Transfers" sign and not the huge general immigration counters in the middle (for "entering" into China). The line is generally short (in my past experience), then you have to go downstairs where they stamp your boarding pass and then you go through a security check.

I've taken this route many times, but never with such a short connection. Definitely get the boarding pass in CPH if you can - they will not always give you that in CPH claiming it is not possible.

The transfer in PEK went very smooth, 25 minutes from Seat to gate. The flight departed on time, evenhow I was at gate before boarding! Now back from HKG via BKK...
