Lightbulb iPhone/iPad app - Android also out

SAS-daughther company Widerĝe has released Scandinavia's first iPhone/ipad-app. It may be downloaded through the usual channels.

You may book flights, check in for your SAS or Widerĝe-flight, check flight status (you may also check SAS-flights at airports both SAS and Widerĝe serve), get general information or see the latest Widerĝe-news.

The app is in Norwegian and English and it will detect the language settings in your device automatically.

We have had reports of problems with iPad version 4.2.1 and it appears there is a bug from Apple's side. We're currently evaluating whether to attempt making a fix or wait for Apple to release an update.

And for you Androids out there - an Android version is under development too, but we have no ETA yet.

So I suppose that means the beta testing period is over? Makes no sense to beta test an app that has already been submitted to the AppStore, right?

That is what they wrote on facebook only 5 hours ago again:

"Hei Kenneth. Vi var nĝdt til ċ endre pċ noen ting i koden som Apple ikke godkjente i fĝrste omgang. Vi har n ċ inne vċr Beta-versjon for godkjenning og den burde vĉre klar for de 150 av vċre facebook-fans som vi har trukket ut til ċ vĉre Beta-testere i lĝpet av noen fċ dager. CK"

(No, I am not Kenneth )

Another place on their facebook they said they got 500 applicants and need just 150 and will let them know as soon as it's ready.

good stuff. Why does little Wideroe have consistently better IT systems (and web support) than its parent SAS?

Well, the WF app just wraps WF's mobile site. The check-in feature is exactly the same found on https://ci.sas.mobi. What's the point of an app if all it does is embed some mobile website?

People want it.

But seriously, there really is no point in reinventing the wheel when it comes to these things. However, this version is intentionally basic to get it through Apple's approval system. There will be more functionality added as we go forward.

Then the Android app is also out.

Unfortunatly, due to problems with Android 2.2, there are some 'issues'. Version 2.3 which will be released shortly, will cause our app - and 1000's of others based on WebView - not to work at all....

Due to the magnitude of these problems, we would hope that someone comes up with a solution ....
