Oreck iron offer

So I need a new Iron and I remember seeing those late night ads from Oreck for a free Iron when you test out their Vacuum. So I called them up and told them I have no interest in their vacuum and I just wanted the free Iron. I told them that if I ordered the vacuum i wouldn't even use it and would send it back the same day I got it. So...can you please just send me the iron, it will save you the shipping (they pay for it both ways) and the labor cost. The agent said no.
Has anyone ever had any experience just getting the iron or am I forced to order the vacuum and send it back when I get it?
