(At least) FREE dessert at Ruby Tuesday

Sign up for the "So Connected" e-mail program at http://www.rubytuesday.com/soconnected.asp and you get a free dessert and "a special offer" on your birthday.

(No, not that kind of special offer, Abby.)

(Episode 2 in my continuing saga to eat out for cheap. Stay tuned for more.)

Thanks! Maybe I'll get their mailing in time to dine out this week

My reputation precedes me! OK, you have given me a challenge, to see if I can find some other goodies, too!

If you're really looking to eat cheap, might I suggest considering mystery shopping? We had a discussion on this at one point, but basically, you eat, pay the check, evaluate the experience by filling out a report, and then they reimburse you for your check, up to a certain amount.

Likewise, add to your list Red Robin. They give you a coupon when you join (I forget what it is) and a free burger on your birthday, along with a free sundae, if you ask nicely. Plus, you can list your family members' birthdays and get coupons for them without having to register different email addresses. http://apps.fishbowl.com/a/redrobin/join/join.asp

That's actually a really good idea. When I was in Chicago I got shops all the time, but apparently there isn't much going on in Albany... but I still keep my eyes open. ^

Thanks for sharing this link. I'm looking forward to the free desert. It's a long ways to my birthday.

I do a few a week, some of which are meals, others are gas stations (hey - if someone wants to pay to put gas in my car...), others are just retail stores. My PayPal account gets a large boost a few times a month.

I've been interested in mystery shopping over the years...but the only places I've ever been able to find info on it, you had to pay a fee to join, wasn't sure if it was a scam, etc, etc. Can you recommend a reputable way to do this?

Just sent you a PM so as not to really hijack this thread. One note: NEVER pay a company to peform mystery shopping for them.

Likewise, I haven't found a company that has mystery shopping without asking you to pay first. Could you send me a PM too?

I'm not sure why it needs to go in a PM, so I'm posting info about how to find legit mystery shop jobs - I'm sure the mods will delete if necessary.
I have found my jobs through the Mystery Shopping Providers Association: http://www.mysteryshop.org/
You can do a search for the companies that operate in your area, and then you have to register with the companies individually. I had a job on Saturday last weekend where I had to check out a King Kong credit card booth at a movie theater. It took me about 15 minutes total (not including driving -but I took the job because I had to go to a store across the street anyway) and I will get paid $15.
