And to itsme's and kipper's points, if Barnes & Noble were ever to make something of it - along the lines of Borders's frequent teasers - it would be a major ramping up from B&N's current m.o. I don't get zip from them at the paid membership level. My last notice was a couple of weeks ago for a bogo at the coffee shop, and I can't remember the one before it.

Thank you. I'll have to get in touch with them. I just thought it was boiling down to getting things cheaper on just walking in. Now that I know that someone gets such offers frequently, I'll call.

Received an email offering a free, short-term membership in B&N's membership program. Limited term is very limited... It expires 1/31/2012, and must be activated by 12/15.
