I was in a store checking out, and then remembered about the Borders coupons and that I might have printed one out. I was rummaging through my huge purse and I was telling the cashier I thought it was $10 off an $xxx purchase. The cashier said she knew alot of promos were going on, but she didn't know which ones were current. I had bought a lot of books, and the cashier was ringing them all up while I kept looking in my purse for the coupon. After she was done ringing everything up, I still was looking, and she said "nevermind, I'll take it off for you". So the cashiers obviously know the codes or have set keys for some promos. I did buy a lot of books that day, though.

I was under the impression that Borders had cracked down on promos recently. A few months ago, I presented a 15% cert and the clerk responded: "I can do better for you." He applied a 25% one (from behind the counter) instead.

Margaret buys Borders stuff when we are in the US (like this week) - do we need to have a Borders card to get the 30% off?

Coupon does not seem to mention it?

I do not believe you need the card for this coupon (I have already used this coupon 3 times, but also have a card). In any event, they have a stack of cards right by the register - if needed, you can always ask for one and then are directed to the web site to register the card. If you don't go to the website, no harm, no foul - you've already received your discount.

I believe tudorcity is correct. When I used the coupon yesterday, the cashier asked for my card but they ask whenever I make a purchase. Enjoy your stay here.

Thanks folks - that's quite a saving! ^

Seems to work on music CD's as well ... unless they call them "electronics"?

I wondered the same thing when I recently wanted to use it for a CD purchase. The sales associate said that a CD is NOT in the "electronics" category, but the CD I wanted to purchase was already 15% off so they wouldn't let me use the coupon.
