Beware Mypoints
I hope everyone is keeping track of every purchase, every survey, or registration for points. For the second time in less than a year I have been given the run around for more than 1000 points owed to me by MyPoints. I'm told to wait the 20 days for points to appear-that was almost 2 months ago-still no points! I'm about ready to can the whole MyPoints deal, forget the points, but give them LOTS of bad publicity. Needless to say, I am angry.

I have been with them over 2 yrs and have accumulated over 18K in points but I have also noticed lately that points take a lot longer to credit and rewards are taking longer to be issued / arrive. I find that the best thing is to email them, save their reply which usually states wait 20-30 days and then after that time period expiers reply and continue to point out that the time has elapsed. Often, they will go ahead and issue a credit.
good luck! peace!

I can understand the frustration having gone through it a few times last year.
After racking up almost 8K since mid-'02 things kinda went dead last summer for me and since then have managed a paltry 600-odd points without purchases. The number and frequency or e-mails arriving has dropped right off (and yes, i've done the spam filter check to make sure weren't getting misdirected). At this rate I'll only be at approx 1K/year and am also wondering if it's worth it.

The easiest way to make this happen is after the 20 days have gone by (used to be 15) You send an email applying for the missing points. In that email copy and paste your confirmation email from FOX for your order. Your points will post in a few days. I always remind them that the prescribed number of days have passed.

Mypoints is the only FF/miles/points program for which I don't bother to keep track. I don't think you'll have good luck "giving them bad publicity." I just think you'll have to judge whether whatever the required trouble is worth your time for the reward.
I try to make sure that I get every mile and point due from car rentals and hotel stays. I actually don't view this as cost effective. The only way I feel that it is worth my time is if I treat it like a hobby.

I have chosen not to bother keeping track of MYPOINTS clicks and then checking whether or not the points post properly. I applaud anyone who does. I believe that it is a service to the rest of us.

To Fletch:
I have been hounding them daily and finally got 1300 points that were owed, though there are points from a cd purchase that are still outstanding. I must say that it seems I got results when I threatened taking my complaint to this board. Just keep trying!

What I think is most infuriating about mypoints is that one must keep such detailed records of every purchase. When they don't post you have to send this detailed email with all of the specifics to what did not post. Then they send you back some email canned response that doesn't even address your email. I keep getting: you have to wait 30/60 days before the points post (this is after you wait the 30/60 days) or today after waiting 60 days for some mypoint dining points and telling them that they are on my mypoints rewards as earned (with the date and the points) they email back I have to send in the email confirming the purchase. I mean, there is no confirming email. So you email them again and they give you a new tracking number for your claim! It's crazy. But I'm addicted so shoot me please! BTW: I'm a few thousand points short of 100K.

1000 mypoints to me is 1000 Hilton points. A recent thread argued about the value of Hilton points, 1000 being worth $6.00 to $10.00. To spend time every day chasing 1000 points, and being agitated by it, seems a high price to pay for the $6.00. Tracking every 5 points for reading an email, IMHO that is a complete waste of time.

I sincerely doubt that anyone tracks the e-mails - But when one spends money and is due points, then yes, DO keep track of your purchases and the points due you. Another thought: if 1000 Hilton points are worth only $6, then why are we chasing after those "4 stays" for 50k points? Most of us spend $300 on hotel stays to get them ( after hotel taxes). 50 x $6 = $300. Hmm.....just thought I'd throw that out...

I, too, think it is not worth the hassle of dealing with them. I "redeemed" a piddly movie ticket award which never appeared, but I missed the timeframe for telling them, but redeeming takes so friggin' long with them, how could one not forget?
