altavista problems
In the last few days I have had problems with the points posting (I click on 20 merchants each worth 50 points, but only get around 150-250 posted). In addition, a couple of e-mails were not answered (they were much better in the past). Anyone had similar experiences? I really do not want to sit and click through sites if I am not getting the points. Another question - I asked to get 100 clickmiles for 3000 points. The points were deducted from my altavista account, but I have not seen them in my clickrewards account, and it has been 10 days. Any of you have experience -how long should it take?

I had the same problem these past few days. I got up to 14,500 points in 15 days and eagerly anticipated ordering the MP3 player on Thursday. It took three days to get the last 500 points when I had been getting 1000 points daily up to then. I finally redeemed 15,000 points for the MP3 player today. Great bonus for starting their program, but at 7 to 10 minutes a day to click through the sites I don't know if I will continue going daily now that I have the MP3 player. It is too much time to get 1000 points just for the equivalent of 33 clickmiles a day. The MP3 player at a value of >$100 was worth the two hours of clicking through websites.

IMHO, I think the Altva Vista site is going down the tubes. Over the past few days the clicks are not posting, or they post for a fraction of what you actually clicked. I clikced on theor new maximum of ten sites at 50 pts. per site, and had exactly ONE point post.
Customer service has been very good up to a few days ago, and it now appears they don't answer e-mails regarding the problem.
I cashed out for Click Reward miles--who knows how long that will take to post!
Proceed at your own risk--you will most likely invest a chunk of time for very little reward.

My take on it - When the altavista reward program started, one could click on as many merchant links as one had time to do so.
I noticed last week that there is now a limit on the number of times that one can click on a banner ad, which appears to be the case with the issues that have been brought up. Next time you log onto the site, look (in the tiny print) that they have added some text to advise on the daily limit.

They have changed their rules, which seems pretty standard for these "reward" sites.
My take is the advertsiers, who were probably promised zillions of new customers, instead got a bill from Alta Vista for zillions of click throughs without any real increase in sales. Some of the advertisers have pulled back, or pulled out--since it started.
Now the number of click throughs has been reduced to THE FIRST 10 FEATURED MERCHANTS YOU VISIT EVEY DAY. I have clicked through on ten 50 point merchants, and have received anywhere from 1 to 300 points for the day.
This is really too much hassle for what you can earn. At the old 1000 point limit per day you could earn 100 Click Reward miles for 3000 Alta Vista points, or 100 Click Reward miles every three days. It did take some time. This is now reduced to 100 Click Reward miles every six days, assuming that you get 500 AltaVista points posted per day--which seems to be a daunting task, even if you click on all of the merchants allowed for the day.

Alta Vista itself has had to lay off many employees, and is scaling back on its ambitions to be the equivalent to Yahoo in the Web portal world. I agree that caveat emptor is in order here. I'm sticking with plain vanilla ClickRewards.

Well, they are finally catching up with the CS e-mail. I got a couple of responses to other e-mails, as well as one notifying me that my missing points were posted (they gave me 2000 for the three days - which is about what I missed). I am not sure about the rule of 10 merchants. Their instructions still sal you can get up to 1000 points browsing, so I am not sure how you do it any other way. I am cashing my points now and will continue to click through for now (as long as they respond to e-mail).
