Dropping Out
I've decided to drop out of My Points. I knew it was never a big earner but if I could do it with time I wouldn't otherwise use and it was emjoyable, why not? The big thing is the surveys. There is one company - the site says something about "ipsosinteractive" whose surveys are such a hassle. They load slowly, ask the same questions over and over (e.g., zip code was asked 4 times in the same survey), rarely asks about anything interesting, and often freezes. When it does freeze, you never get anything for it (not even the 10) and it prevents you from getting to any other survey.
As I said, if it weren't so annoying, I would stick with in even though we don't get a whole lot out of it. But not any more.

But the last straw was 2 surveys in the past week from other companies. In both cases, I invested over 30 minutes, completed successfully and then got 10 points for non-qualifiers. I wrote MyPoints and asked for 80 points. They gave me 160 goodwill points but sent me a snooty email back telling me that the survey provider had disqualified me. When I get to the next redemption level within the next month or so, I'm done mith MyPoints for good.

I agree. I've earned around 4,000 miles via Opinion Miles Club without too much effort. I wish I qualified for more of their surveys. I also wish there was a small consolation prize to trying but not qualifiying, say 5 or 10 miles.

Has anybody had decent luck getting MyPoints for charitable donations? Most of my activity posts right away, but I received an automated message from one charity telling me 4-6 weeks for the points. The other sent me nothing but a receipt. I need these 2,500 to get a redemption level that will allow me drop out of this miserable program for good.

A one time donation to Feed America posted fairly quickly last December, IIRC. If it's a repeating donation for X number of months, you may have to wait it out until the end of X in order for it to credit.

Actually, UA's Millage + has ALWAYS (MyP started as a UA subsidiary, after all..) been an option.
Since I've joined close to 9 years ago (my trading has always being on Sears cards to use at Kmart) 5K MP+ miles had gone from 10K to 12K MyP and 2.5K MP+ miles have gone from 5.1K to 6.1K MyP.
And BOTH 2.5K and 5K MP+ miles still appear as an option, but now on the "Windows 8 scheme" MyP uses those rewards you don't have enough points to redeem appear "greyed out", but they're available once you reach the milestone.
Still I don't use MyP for miles 'cause I live in an area where UA flights (now they're slightly more abundant after + CO flights) are scarcer than usual (AA was the most common, now it's B6 with a smattering of WN and AA in SJU, "my neck of the woods"...).
