I contacted Mypoints to ask why the 10k Mypoints for 5 UA miles was no longer there, and if it would be coming back. Below is the response I received:
Thank you for contacting Member Services. We sincerely appreciate your interest in the Redeem Points portion of the MyPoints Program. At MyPoints, we strive to have a variety of vendors available to maximize Point-spending opportunities for our members. Unfortunately 5,000 United miles rewards are not available for redemption at this time. Offers on the MyPoints site may change from time-to-time, and we apologize for any inconvenience. Please be sure to check the "Redeem" section of the site to see great offers that are currently available. In addition, please let us know if you have any questions. Thank you for your valued membership. Sincerely, |

This might have been in no small part due to a redemption that I had made in August. They researched the redemption several times and ultimately found out that UNited was no longer honoring requests from MyPoints. I finally got the points refunded in December, but United confirmed that they do not currently have a partnership in place anymore with MyPoints. Not sure how temporary or permanent this is.

But they are still showing the redemption of 5100 MyPoints for 2500 United miles. As a matter of fact, I did a redemption today for that.

C/R -- you will note that I mention the MyPoints option in the United thread for the 1,000 mile bonus. Furthermore, the UA website itself indicates that Mypoints is an earning partner for UA - with a 750 point bonus signup if you are a new member. I sincerely doubt that it is no longer a partner as has been reported to you -- what you have reproduced in writing says nothing of the sort -- only that the 5,000 mile option is no longer available. I redeemed 5,100 MyPoints for 2,500 UA miles in late October 2010, and it has hit my UA account, so I very much doubt that its demise has occurred. |

Uh oh. I wish you better luck than I had. Maybe something changed in the last couple of weeks. It took MyPoints 3 months to recognize a problem, and another month before they refunded the points back into my account.
That's the good news. ^ The bad news is that it posted as of January 1, which means it can't count toward the 1,000 mile bonus.:td: |

I redeemed 10,200 MyPoints for 5,000 UA miles on January 12. The miles posted exactly 2 weeks later on January 26.
|
And I redeemed on 1/15/11 and 2500 miles just posted today, so 12 days.

I wish that MyPoints emailed Amazon.com certificates like many other rewards sites do. It's faster, more convenient for members and you'd think they'd want to cut down on the snail-mail/paper overhead.
In somewhat related news, they now have a PayPal cash redemption option (at least for some). Point/dollar rates are horrible, but it's cash and it's quick. I ordered $50 on January 12th and it was fulfilled today, the 17th (a holiday, so turnaround of five calendar days, two business days). No paper to worry about (welcome to the 21st century, MyPoints). But a close relative informs she doesn't have the same option. No PayPal listed in her "Rewards" section at all... |

Could someone provide details about the 1,000 mile UA bonus that is being referred to ? I did a search on the United forum but wasn't able to find anything. Thanks very much. |

I figured that there must be a MyPoints discussion somewhere on FlyerTalk. But I just stumbled on this thread last night. Never looked in S.P.A.M. before, lots of good information.

United Mileage Plus5,100 Points 2,500 Mileage Plus Miles 10,000 Points 5,000 Mileage Plus Miles And another change, Hyatt certificates are no longer offered. You used to be able to get $25, $50 and $75 certs. They first dropped the $75 (which was the best offer, per point), and now all are gone. Someone said it earlier in the thread, but just wait around, and the rewards will change. tls |
