Cancellation email

Hello,
On average when do Ryanair send out the notification email of a cancelled flight? My flight was cancelled 6 months ago but I still have not received the email, and without this I cannot book on to an alternative. My worry is that the flights we need will sell out before I get the email as we want to travel Christmas Eve and return on NYE. We also had exit row seats booked but the chances of getting them get slimmer by the day!

It's possible that Ryanair has marked the flight as cancelled and you just didn't receive the email. Do you see the cancellation notice when logging into your PNR on Ryanair's website? If you do, you can already change/refund the flight. If you don't, you have to wait until Ryanair marks your flight as cancelled before you can do anything. (The e-mail should arrive within a few hours of Ryanair marking the flight as cancelled).

When I log in to my account, the flight is marked as cancelled in capital letters and highlighted in red. You cannot book the flight anymore on the website. And when you want to live chat, the bot that you must get past first also confirmed the flight is cancelled. It is definitely cancelled, and has been for a long time! However without the email I cannot change the flight, it is so frustrating!

Just use the live chat on the FR webpage to rebook your flight. You don't need email from FR first; agent will see that the flight is cancelled and rebook for free.

Thanks for your reply and I wish that was true in my case. I have tried webchat 3 times over the last few months and in typical Ryanair customer services fashion, they refuse to do anything without the email - but also will not tell me when I should get it......

It is only getting more expensive for FR as you can most likely rebook to another airline unless FR offers an alternative within few hours.

Just check your rights and insist on it (with a lawyer)

It is always a good idea to get transcripts of these discussions, they may come in handy should you need to enforce your UK261 rights. If Ryanair have cancelled your flights you are entitled to rebooking at no additional cost to you. If Ryanair are unable to reroute you on the same dates then they are on the hook to cover the cost of flights on an alternative carrier.
