Lyft Pricing

Kind of curious if you guys have noticed an increase in pricing for Lyft since they launched the lyft pink benefit with Chase? I'm seeing the prices have gone up or it seems like it has. I live in West LA FYI. Not sure if its a region specific increase.

West Louisiana or Los Angeles?

Assuming Los Angeles, it should be a state-specific increase, in response to the consequence of Dynamex/AB5.

Are you comparing prices to 6-12 months ago? I've definitely noticed Lyft getting more expensive since then. That predates any near-term Pink effect, though.

It's best to ignore Lyft Pink and price out each individual ride vs Uber, taxis or other alternatives

Since I activated Lyft Pink all my rides have been with Uber. The Lyft ride has priced out higher than an Uber ride. However I just test priced rides to the airport and Uber was $5 less. I think it is early with the perk to draw any conclusion. I will continue to price out both Lyft and Uber and pick the one that makes the most sense.

I’ve never ‘priced out’ a Lyft ride ever. It’s so cheap, what’s the difference between $11.34 or $13.95 to get across town?

Loving Lyft pink and the 10x!

Too much hustle. Either stick to uber and buy gift card at 10%-15% off (plenty available) or use CSR for lyft.

I've only priced a few in LA since the CSR Pynk discount came in, and it seems like they've increased prices - it comes in cheaper than Uber after the discount, but only by a few $, not 15% compared to Uber.

Los Angeles. For me, Lyft was always cheaper than Uber before the chase partnership. Now its pretty much the same price or more expensive than Uber. If its the same price I'll use Lyft bc of 10x but if the ride is still more expensive even with teh 10x, I'm going for Uber

If I may ask, where are you getting the discounted GCs from?

Just priced out a ride on Uber vs Lyft, with Lyft Pink’s 15% “discount” applied

Reinforces my view that Lyft Pink is a pretty meaningless benefit in terms of pricing out the Chase card

I have noticed that Lyft is often notably cheaper than Uber for Pool rides (as in your example above.

Lyft has admitted they raised prices across the board in 2019, while keeping driver payments the same or lower. I drive for both and occasionally use both, for the last 7 months my wife hasn't been able to drive due to medical reasons, so she's had to take Uber and Lyft regularly, Lyft's prices for her Dr. and therapy trips went up in Oct. by $4 and stayed up. One trip, from our house to physical therapy was initially $17.90 +/- $3.00, it's now $21.80 +/-, I know for a fact the driver is only being paid $10.60 to $11.30 on those trips, as twice she has gotten the same driver, one of our neighbors and I've checked it with him.
