Talking New UPromise/iDine Promo - free drinking if you do it right!

Just saw this on the UPromise website- REGISTRATION REQUIRED & NO MINIMUM PURCHASES!

So, if you drink 3 beers at 3 different places, you can get 5 bucks back - go on a 5 beer iDine bar crawl at about 4/beer & drink for free!! Remember, you don't actually have to save for a kid, you can save for yourself!

Dine out at participating Upromise restaurants 3, 4, or 5 times between September 1 and November 30, 2004 and save $5, $10, or $20 for college, all on top of the other college savings you normally receive from Citi (1%)* and participating restaurants (up to 10%).**

Dine out 5 times and you can receive an extra $20 in your Upromise account.
Dine out 4 times and you can receive an extra $10 in your Upromise account.
Dine out 3 times and you can receive an extra $5 in your Upromise account.

Here's how to get your extra portion of college savings!

1. Register for this special offer
2. Find a participating restaurant near you
3. Dine out at least three times between September 1 and November 30, 2004***
4. Pay for your meal using your Citi Upromise Card and you'll earn extra college savings - automatically!****

*The maximum amount of Citi contributions into your Upromise account is 1% of $30,000 in purchases posted to your January to December billing statements, which is equal to $300 per credit card account per calendar year. Balance transfers, cardmembership fees, cash advances, returned purchases, convenience checks and finance charges do not earn college contributions. Please refer to your Directory of Services for further details about your Citi Upromise Rewards Program.

**Restaurant contributions awarded up to the maximum spending of $600.00 per visit. Some restaurants may have additional restrictions such as blackout dates and limits on eligible visits in a calendar month. View individual restaurant details at dining.upromise.com for more information about dining restrictions and specific contribution amounts.

***To receive extra college savings you must (1) register for this promotion at upromise.com/citipromo, (2) dine the appropriate number of times and earn a contribution from a participating restaurant each time you dine, (3) spend a minimum of $25 each dine, and (4) pay with a Citi Upromise Card registered in your Upromise account.

****If your credit or debit card is already registered with another dining or hotels program administered by iDine Rewards Network, you cannot receive Upromise contributions unless you switch your enrollment to the Upromise Dining/Hotels Programs by contacting us at (888) 434-9111, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 11:30 PM or Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM Eastern time.

†To earn contributions from Citi and certain other contributing companies, your Citi Upromise Card must be registered in the Profile section of your account on the Upromise website. Some contributing companies may have additional requirements you must fulfill to receive their Upromise contributions.

Umm, what about this part

(3) spend a minimum of $25 each dine, and (4) pay with a Citi Upromise Card registered in your Upromise account.

Doesn't it mean that 1) you need to have a special credit card and 2) you have to spend $25 each time?

Exclamation Thread Moved

Sure, sounds like a great idea, send your kid to college while getting drunk

It's a good excuse I guess

But there is an iDine forum now, so I am moving it over there

Well, that's not the impression I got when I first read it - but in re-reading it, it appears you may be right. I go the impression that the extra would be the extra 1% you'd get by using the Citi Card. Maybe it's not such a great deal afterall...
