Yarden/Gamla analogy is good, but isn't the fact that airplane meals aren't aimed at consumers directly mean that branding makes little difference? Few ppl are going to change airlines based on the food...
ETA: This (parenthetically very informative) article indicates that ebzed is correct, they are the same. Search for Regal, the second entry is the applicable paragraph.

1- that link to that chart has 1 problem is NOT up to date. For a couple of yrs already CO dropped Weiss and went with Regal, also Wilton is mentioned but I believe that is now KoshAir (worst garbage in the air)

2- Im not sure why if Borenstien & Regal are out of the same place they sell them as 2 , dont know if its the price per meal, who gives the hecksher or maybe even that Regal has different owners and Borenstein does all the cooking etc for them and Regal ha sits own sales force. I know so why would Borenstein do it sort of like how at times Major companys will do the run for a private label , which is why you wont see say manufactured by Shop Rite Inc but instead Distributed by Shop Rite Inc since SR doesnt have any of its own manufacturing plants

Just to clarify, the table at the end wasn't the point of the link. It was more the general article.
I think ebzed's idea is more likely to be correct. If Regal would want to expand, they need their own kitchens. It's not like SR where they compete on many different products.

I am flying swiss-air JFK-ZRH-TLV and then a few weeks later TLV-ZRH-JFK. All in coach. The travel agent said he put kosher meals on the reservations. What type of meals will I get? What hechsheirim will be on these meals? Are the meals mehadrin?

I disagree. I happen to like them more. I've had both in Y, as well as Regal in CO's BF and Hermolis in BA's CW, though it was a while back, and liked Regal more. Hermolis is still great, and at the very least, they're both in the same ballpark.

google isnt always correct, yes teh link goes to a Regal Caterers which is Kosher but based out in Dix Hills, LI NY. While the meals served on the planes comes out of Queens , NY and Id say has nothing to do with the link supplied. From what I understand Regal is out of the same kitchens as Borenstien which is ElAls kitchen

I think sort of like Yarden Winery in Israel where they have several lines (names) Golan,Gamla,Yarden with Yarden being the at the Top. I dont know the difference between Borenstein and Regal maybe its due to which heckshers they have on them, but the Regal trays seems to always have more food and items on them

As I understand it, Borenstein is the parent company, and Regal is more of a line of catering than it's own company. Borenstein still caters under that name.

Flying tomorrow EWR-ZRH-TLV, and the second leg is LX. (First leg is CO.) I also have the KSML ordered, also sitting in Y. Will let you know. HONcircle, that's assuming I make the second leg ;) Otherwise, it's Brussels for Shabbat or Chabad in Zurich!

I'm not so good with the abbreviations. If you don't mind, what's LX,CO,KSML,Y. Thanks!

:D Sorry about that. That's something you'll learn as you go along here on FT (that would be FlyerTalk :))

Today, I'm flying from Newark (EWR) to Israel (TLV) via Zurich, Switzerland (ZRH). I'm flying Continental Airlines (CO) and connecting in ZRH to SWISS Air (LX). I'm seated in Economy Class (Y). I also have the Kosher meal (KSML) ordered. Will let you know how the meal turns out.

Hope that helped and didn't make things more confusing ;) If it did, then just use Shimon's post to guide you

Correction: LX stands for Swiss International Airlines, inherited from CrossAir, not Swiss Air. (and this is not something you would learn on FT)

If you want to get technical, it is Swiss International Air Lines, not Airlines.

Swissair's code was SR.

Yes, but on their napkins they also spell it sometimes as 'Airlines'.
But this is already a technical issue.

Totally OT (Off Topic), but as you've mentioned Swiss - do they still have the pencil cases shaped like a planes tail onboard? I got one as a kid, but never seemed to find them again...

Did not see anything like that

KSML (lunch) on LX in Y

The Kosher meal on LX was decent. Nothing fancy, but the packaging happens to be pretty good. You get your main part with cutlery, salt/pepper/sugar/coffee/non-dairy creamer, a cup, water, decent size piece of delicious cake, good roll, some fruit, and an area to place your main meal. The main was beef and rice, and was not bad. The good thing about the packaging was it allowed for the main to be placed in it, so you don't have 2 items awkwardly placed on the tray table.

Forgot the name of the caterer.

Was it Shalom Air Catering or Hermolis?

If it looked and tasted that good, than I shall therefore exclude Stogel from the list.
