Planning a trip in BA F from LAX-LHR... how are the kosher meals these days ex-LAX and ex-LHR?

damaxer91 is definitely right about ex-LHR. But ex-LAX I'd suggest you take your own food, if possible.

Guess it's a good thing my ex-LAX flight leaves at 8:35pm so I can just have dinner before getting on the plane. Breakfast I guess will be whatever they have.

Has anyone here ever tried to bring your own frozen meals along and have them stored and reheated on the plane? I'm thinking about trying it tomorrow on CX from JFK-HKG in F

Done it many times with Hermolis meals out of London if I've missed the cutoff for ordering a KSML. But now one can get them in the BA lounge it's just a matter of calling them and taking one of their Hermolis meals on board with you.

Tried it with Virgin America (meal from a kosher restaurant in Las Vegas) but they would not agree to reheat it on the plane. Made the usual 'health and safety' excuse ... not that it really needed reheating ... defrosting was actually quite enough.

I've never even thought of that, let alone heard of it. Interesting!

CX had no problem chilling and re-heating the food for me. Purser thought it was a great idea.

What was kosher the meal provided by CX? Proper F class?

Kosher meals in airports

Is there a list somewhere (or can someone make one) of which F lounges worlwide provide kosher meals in their lounge? I have had in FRA in the past but was wondering what other airlines/airports do it...
Do they have in HNK or IST?

All KDL lounges ;) (TLV, JFK, LHR, CDG)

BA lounges in LHR for sure, and I believe JFK as well

not sure where else

doubt IST has

Hmm. Not sure I'd define KDL at CDG as having kosher MEALS - unless you classify a cracker and pickle (if you're lucky..) as a meal. It has the worst food of any KDL (or most other lounges) - TLV and LHR are much better, haven't been to JFK in a while.

Back on topic - you can get a kosher meal at the FCL in Munich if you order in advance. Very good quality, recommended. And at the SQ lounge in BKK/SIN you can get kosher ice cream:) (Haagen Dazs,Ben and Jerry's).

Kosher Dinner: 2/9/11 (9/2/11 outside USA), CO91 TLV-EWR Y Meal

Seated in Economy on Continental Airlines for the TLV-EWR flight. Food was by Hamasbia, Worldwide Culinary Experiences.
They are generally the provider of the KSML in Y. (I forget who provides in BF, but it’s not the same. Hopefully, I’ll be sitting in BF on the way back, so will report.)

The meal came with a “Teudat Kashrut” in Hebrew and English, provided by Badatz Eidah Hacharedit and Rabbanut Mehadrin of Natbag (Ben Gurion Airport). Both I believe, because caterers and restaurants in Israel require a Rabbanut Teudah in addition to others.

The meal, as always, comes with the main packaging, which includes cutlery, plastic cup, salt/pepper/sugar/coffee packet, roll, salad, and dessert.

Roll – whole wheat, and looked fine (I’ve had it before and it’s fine, nothing special, but edibile). They claim it’s a “mezonot” roll, meaning you make a mezonot on it as opposed to washing, but consult your personal Rav to determine the halachik status of mezonot rolls.
Salad – usually comes with just a bunch of vegetables cut up and a small piece of fish. The fish had one bone in it, but a big one which was good as it was easy to spot. There was also balsamic vinegar to dress it. Included was half a tomato with some spice on it, which was quite tasty.
Desert – the packaging said it was an orange muffin, but it tasted much closer to a corn muffin with maybe a hint of orange. It was delicious! Too bad it wasn’t too big. It was gone in 2-3 bites!

Main Course – The main course is always wrapped/heated separately, with a variation of rice or couscous, meat or chicken, and some vegetable. This was chicken balls, which were decent, nothing special, but not bad at all. There were only 3 though, and not too much rice (I’d say half the thing was rice). I forgot to take pics until the end, but if someone can help me figure out how to upload pics to a post, you'll be able to see the size of the container it came in. Usually, the container is overflowing with food; this time not so much. The vegetable was steamed green beans, peppers, and onions. Not enough though. I was quite disappointed on the size. Good thing I ate before the flight! Overall, tasted fine.

Overall presentation gets a C+
Taste gets a B
Portion totals get a C-
