Radisson Deauville Resort Miami Beach, any comments?

I got this one through priceline for a very busy weekend - any comments appreciated. It looked rather decent in the pics.

I'm booked in this one on Radisson Points, it sounds nice. Would you mind sharing what it cost on priceline?

Thanks!

I got the same hotel through Priceline a few months back too... It's an older place, which has been decently refurbished. The beach is nice, and the pool is large and nice too. The food in the restaurant was truly excellent, and a good value too... I recall that I had to pay about $17 per night for parking... there wasn't much street parking available, I think you had to put coins in the meters until like 6 PM, then it was hard to find any spaces on the streets since the residents that live nearby know to grab them all. It's not real close to the South Beach action, and it's still a ways from Ft. Laurderdale. The rooms were large and well appointed... I won it on Priceline a few months back, I think for about $49 a night... I got Radisson points for the stay. It has a nice big lobby... I consider it a very good value..

Thanks for the replies, hotel sounds nice to me.

I got it for $60 ($55 was rejected). There's some convention in town, downtown hotels with lower PL rates (Hyatt, Sheraton, Renaissance) are all sold out.

Happy Holidays to all!

Thanks for the information. We had a nice room (839) which was half a suite and looked south with a little bit of window looking west. So we could see the ocean, beach, pool, Collins Av, and Biscayne Bay.

The room was a decent size but tired -- a few extra holes where other pictures must have been, furniture and decorations didn't really go. Apparently this was the original strip that was "Miami Beach" back in the 50s and 60s.

Valet parking (no other choice) is now U$18 per day.

But you didn't mention the most significant aspect, the usurious phone rates. From memory, here's what we've encountered (I'm saving the best -- or worst -- for last).

Boca Suites: $1 for local or 800 calls, 60min limit per call (after that, a per-minute charge); high-speed for $11.50 per day.

Key West: 75c for local, free for 800 calls, no time limit (so we could have dialled up to NetZero on arrival and left the line open for three days!); high-speed not available.

Boca Bridge: $1 for local, free for 800 calls, not sure of time limit since there's FREE HIGH SPEED.

Deauville Miami Beach: $1 for local with a THREE minute limit (!!!!!), free for 800 calls (so we could have used our 1.4c/min calling card to call NetZero); high speed not available.

I stayed there Dec. 01 our room on the eight floor was tired looking and had the complimentary holes in the wall where there
were phone wires. Tried to help a lady on
our floor whose room door wouldn't unlock,
but not successful. Did they drop the $7 a day resort fee? I wouldn't stay there again for $25 a day room charge!

The only thing we were charged on our award stay was $18/day for valet parking. And on the beach, the chaises longues were free, there was only a $5 charge (plus whatever tips) for two cushions, and umbrella, and a cabana -- and that was for the whole day! On Deerfield Beach (public) two chairs, no pads, and an umbrella _or_ cabana is $20.
