QR835 BKK - DOH Check-in time

Do the BKK self check-in points open at the same time as the desks? I am booked on QR827 the 0300 departure, have already selected seats for both flights, with hand luggage only, will be at the airport some time before the check in desks normally open, but would rather pass the time airside until the lounge opens at 22:30.

there must be a "walkway". What would happen in case of an/any emergency and the train got stuck? (i think I remember emergency exit signs driving by)

Update to post 16. I'll answer my own question. Tried to self check in at 2030 for QR827 the 0300, computer said no, too early. Tried again at 21:45, this time computer said yes, printed both boarding passes, through security and immigration by 22;10, in the QR lounge by 22:30.
Further update 0515, still in the lounge, aircraft has gone tech, no word as what is happening. But I can think of far worse places to be stranded!
